Giving birth in a hospital doesn’t have to mean being flat on your back immobile. Even with an epidural. When you’re planning your birth interview both your provider and doula with their comfort supporting physiologic birth in the hospital and if they say they aren’t, get another provider

Regardless of Mayor John Carney’s heartless decision to veto the Amendment to the city code to exempt the elderly, disabled and hones with small children from water shutoffs, there is help of you need it. The Utility Payment Assistance Program has been codified into the city code to help those who’ve fallen behind in their payments with payment plans and if qualified grants up to $1500. If you or someone you know has fallen behind in their payments, please contact the Wilmington Water Utility as soon as possible.

The Utility Payment Assistance Program (UPAP) is available to any income-eligible City of Wilmington resident or customer who is at least 18 years old and has a delinquent water utility account for over 90 days.

This interaction is completely typical of what black Americans with chronic pain conditions and serious illnesses like sickle cell disease live with every day. Please speak up for yourself if you were being treated like this when you’re seeking emergency room care, dismiss that provider demand a new provider and ask for the name of their supervisor and their department chain of command everyone including the CEO of a hospital answers to someone; know your rights
