We’re pleased to share that our project, Beaver Brook – Boquet River Habitat Reconnection, has been selected for funding through the Champlain Hudson Environmental Trust (CHET), a long-term commitment to research and habitat restoration across Lake Champlain and the Hudson and Harlem Rivers. This second round of funding supports projects focused on restoring and enhancing critical habitats for fish and wildlife while also benefiting waterfront communities. Through this, our team will support critical aquatic and terrestrial wildlife populations within the Split Rock Wildway through assessment, in-stream and riparian restoration, and road barrier elimination.

We are deeply grateful for a recent Generous Acts grant
from Adirondack Community Foundation. This grant will allow BRASS to continue addressing resiliency, water quality and habitat in the five communities that sit along the Boquet River.

An unexpected visitor on Beaver Brook! In September BRASS and friends built some demonstration structures on Barred Owl Brook Farm to introduce low-tech stream restoration to the Adirondacks. Lo and behold, nature's engineers decided to take over. Here a beaver is reinforcing a log structure we build to trap sediment and improve fish habitat. Can't wait to visit later this spring and see who else has moved into this reach of the stream. Thanks to Alex Caskey for the great video.
