Today, Project Heaven had the opportunity to attend the Child Safety Fair here in Sedgwick County.

Events like this matter. When a community comes together to focus on child safety, awareness, and prevention, it creates real impact. Families get connected to resources, kids learn in ways they understand, and important conversations start early.

We’re grateful to everyone who helped organize and show up for this event. From community partners to advocates on the ground, this is what it looks like when people step up for children.

We’ll continue to support efforts like this and work alongside those committed to protecting Kansas kids.

💙 Today is Wear Blue Day 💙

Today, we come together for Wear Blue Day to recognize Child Abuse Prevention Month and show our commitment to protecting children.

Wearing blue is more than just a color—it’s a statement. It shows that you stand for the safety, well-being, and protection of every child, and that you support survivors.

Child abuse prevention starts with awareness, education, and community. When we speak up, learn the signs, and support one another, we help create a world where children are safer and stronger.

📸 If you’re wearing blue today, share your photos and help spread the message!

💙 Together, we can make a difference in the lives of children.

🚨 UPDATE: BENNY’S LAW IS OFFICIAL 🐝

Today, Governor Laura Kelly signed HB 2479 into law.

Benny’s Bill is now Benny’s Law.

This moment would not be possible without the strength and courage of Benny and the Cannon family. Your voices made this change happen, and Kansas is better because of you.

We also want to thank Representative Ken Collins for carrying this legislation and standing up for Kansas children.

What is now law:

Benny’s Law (formerly HB 2412)
Increases penalties when young children, especially under age 6, are placed in dangerous situations. Kansas law now more clearly recognizes the vulnerability of very young children.

Electronic Monitoring for Domestic Violence
Requires courts to consider GPS monitoring with victim notification in certain cases, adding protection for victims before trial.

Blackmail and Deepfake Protections
Expands blackmail laws to include threats involving images, videos, and AI-generated content.

Privacy and Exploitation Protections
Strengthens penalties for recording or sharing private images, especially involving minors and digital manipulation.

Position of Authority Law
Clarifies that adults in positions of authority in schools, including volunteers age 21 and older, are prohibited from inappropriate relationships with students.

This package also honors the legacy of Representative John Resman, a strong voice for protecting victims and families.

Today is a win for accountability.

A win for prevention.

And most importantly, a win for Kansas children.

We will keep going. This is progress but the mission continues.

Kansas has officially joined the federal “Home for Every Child” initiative.

So what does that actually mean for kids in foster care here in Kansas?

At its core, this initiative shifts the focus from paperwork and process to one simple question:

Do our children have safe, stable homes when they need them?

Right now, one of the biggest challenges in foster care across the country is a shortage of available homes. Too many children are waiting for placement, experiencing instability, or being moved from place to place.

This new federal framework pushes states to change that by focusing on real outcomes:

• Increasing the number of safe, licensed foster homes

• Reducing placement disruptions

• Prioritizing keeping siblings together

• Expanding kinship placements when possible

• Strengthening prevention so fewer children enter the system in the first place

Kansas choosing to join means our state is committing to improving these outcomes and being measured on them.

That matters.

It means foster home availability is no longer just a concern — it is now a priority tied to performance and accountability.

But with that also comes responsibility.

Growth must never come at the expense of child safety. Expanding capacity must be done carefully, with the well-being of each child at the center of every decision.

At Project Heaven, we will continue to support efforts that strengthen families, protect children, and improve the systems meant to serve them.

We will also continue to follow this closely and advocate for transparency, accountability, and outcomes that truly put children first.

Because every child deserves more than a placement.

They deserve a home.

Project Heaven was proud to have our President Jordan Chessher interviewed by KSNT 27 News out of Topeka to discuss Caleb’s Law.

We are honored to stand in this fight against sexual extortion, especially when it targets our children. This is an issue that demands awareness, action, and accountability—and we are committed to being part of that change.

We want to extend our sincere gratitude to the Caleb Moore family. Your courage and willingness to speak out is making a difference and helping protect other families from experiencing the same tragedy.

This fight matters.
Our children matter.
And we will not stay silent.
