It Takes a Village
Footprints ICT collects NEW socks for the homeless and people in need. If you’re homeless, you walk a lot. It’s essential to keep your feet clean and dry. Foot ailments, due to dirty/wet socks send more homeless people to the ER than any other ailment. Clean socks are hard to come by, therefore socks are the most requested item of clothing, but the least donated.
In addition, they provide “Socks Drawers” to Title 1 schools in Wichita (majority of students are living in poverty). Students have a hard time focusing on school when their feet are cold or wet because they have no socks. The “Sock Drawer” provides a way for the students to pick out socks for themselves.
