Elizabeth Young came to us with a vision to support local cancer patients, and that vision became ‘Threads of Hope’!🧵🦋

We’d love to have you join us for this meaningful event hosted by Elizabeth on Thursday, April 30, from 3:30 to 6:30 PM at Odd Fellow Hall.

This special afternoon brings together fashion, food, and fun, all in support of Kansans battling cancer.

Guests will enjoy an LBD fashion show, signature cocktails, small bites, and exclusive pop-up shopping with Belmont Boutique.

All proceeds will benefit the Wichita Cancer Foundation, ensuring Kansans battling cancer maintain access to life-saving treatment when it’s needed most.

We are pleased to introduce our newest Board member, Christina Kamberis!

Christina brings more than 22 years of professional sales experience, including 16 years in the insurance industry. She has built a career focused on trusted client relationships, strategic risk management, and long-term planning for individuals and businesses.

Born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, Christina is a graduate of Kansas State University and relocated to Kansas City following graduation. She currently resides in Kansas City with her husband, John, and their three children, Coco, Gia, and Theo.

Christina is honored to serve on the Board of WCF and is passionate about supporting an organization whose generosity directly benefits individuals and families throughout the Kansas City area.

Save the date for Picklepalooza 2026, a Pickleball & Co****le tournament benefiting Wichita Cancer Foundation & Senior Services of Wichita! 🥳

Last year, we partnered with Senior Services for a collaborative fundraiser, and it was such a success that we are back for round two.

Join us on Friday, June 5th, at Chicken N Pickle Wichita for a day of friendly competition, amazing prizes, delicious food, and incredible FUN! 100% of the proceeds from Picklepalooza will benefit local cancer patients and seniors in need.

How We Got Here and Where We Are Going

The concept for this organization was a vision of oncologist Shaker R. Dakhil in response to seeing so many patients who have life circumstances which affect their ability to pay the premiums necessary to keep their health insurance when battling cancer and the care needed throughout the journey. The goal is for no patient, who is currently receiving cancer care in Sedgwick County, to have to choose between life expenses and life saving treatment. Today, the nonprofit organization is ran by a passionate and diverse group of volunteers and board of directors brought together by a shared passion for service. Our organization runs solely off of donations, in which over 95% of all funds spent go to the patients who have applied and asked for help. We are dedicated to ensuring the gifts that we receive from both corporate, community and individual donors are used in the most efficient and effective way. We are proud to provide a sense of hope and comfort to patients who truly need it—and to do so in such an extraordinary community!
