Our Rotary club welcomed Anna Hager, the camp director of the YMCA’s “Camp Hiawatha”located in north Wichita. Since 1940 the camp has been hosting young campers and is also a retreat for groups of all sizes. Thank you Anna for speaking to us!

Red Bud Brewing of Augusta won the tasters choice award at the 16th annual Haus of Brews fundraiser event held on 9/13/25. Club member Tony Durano presents the traveling trophy this week to the brewery. Congratulations to Red Bud Brewing!

Today our club welcomed Andover Public Library Friends spokesperson Melissa Steinman who informed our club of the variety of events APL Friends are involved in. These include: birdwatching events; summer reading program; hometown Christmas; weekly mahjong games; book sales and having a GAD parade float to name a just a few.

Our club welcomed Andover Food Bank President Mistee Boatright today who shared how the food bank serves area citizens in need.

Statistics she shared included Butler Co. has 11.2% of its population listed as food insecure. The state of Ks has a lower percentage at 9.9%.

The 2025 summer lunch program cost $22k to fund this past summer. Costs increased by $4000 from 2024.

Finally, she welcomes help from individuals who would like to volunteer at the Food Bank. The Food Bank is located at the Andover UMC located at 1429 N Andover Rd.

Our club recognized outgoing club president Pam Chambers with a gavel plaque to thank her for her service to our club. We appreciated her leadership this past year!

Our speaker this week was Michele Carlini who heads up the Andover Caring and Sharing program which is run through St. Vincent De Paul church here in town.

In 2024, 208 children received Christmas gifts, they were associated with 80 families along with 5 seniors. Also, 125 children received school supplies and 39 backpacks were purchased. Children’s names are received through school counselors. Thank you Michele for speaking and for what you and your volunteers do for children each holiday season! Future donations can be accepted through St Vincent de Paul if interested.

Our club was delighted to host Jo Lynn Bright, Director of Community Impact at Hopenet, who presented an engaging talk on transforming lives in Wichita through counseling and poverty alleviation via the BridgesICT initiative. We express our sincere appreciation to Jo Lynn for sharing her passion with our club.

Our club also acknowledged our most recent Paul Harris Fellow, Ryan Lynch. Ryan's financial support has made a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need worldwide. The Rotary Foundation has noted that every $250 in contributions, one person lives. Thank you Ryan for achieving this distinction!
