More than 130 community members gathered on Saturday for the White Cane Day Walk in Wichita, bringing together families, participants, volunteers and supporters to celebrate the independence represented by the white cane.

Your presence helped make the Walk a true community show of support for people who are blind or have low vision and for the mobility, confidence and opportunity the white cane can help make possible.

Envision’s work continues year-round through programs and services that help people access the skills, tools and resources that support greater independence.

Two days until the White Cane Day Walk!

If you’re joining us this Saturday, October 3, here’s what you need to know:
📍 Great Plains Nature Center
🕘 Arrive at 8:45 a.m. | Walk starts at 9 a.m.
👟 Check-in: Registration will be at the beginning of the trail.

There will be multiple routes to choose from, so you can pick the one that works best for you. All routes are paved, and sighted guides will be available for anyone who would like one.

A few more things to know:
1. Free parking is available at Great Plains Nature Center.
2. Outdoor restrooms are available near the trail.
3. T-shirt pickup will be available at the walk.
4. Donuts will be available first come, first served.
5. Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Bring water, sunscreen or a hat, and your white cane if you use one.

We had a great night at the ballpark last week for Envision’s Give Back Night with the Wichita Wind Surge! ⚾

Our Interim CFO, Troy McKissick, kicked off the evening with the ceremonial first pitch, and $5 from every ticket sold went back to supporting Envision’s mission.
