🔥🍔 OUT-OF-SCHOOL COOKOUT🌭🎉

Today, our teens rolled up their sleeves and learned real-life cooking skills by grilling burgers and hot dogs and working together as a team! 👨🏽‍🍳👩🏾‍🍳

As we celebrated the end of the school year, we also took time to honor THREE incredible graduates who have been part of Equity Initiative, Inc. 🎓✨

Your journey, growth, resilience, and leadership have inspired us all. We are beyond proud of you and cannot wait to see what’s next! 🌟

📚✨ Wrapping up the school year STRONG with our Academic BOOST programming! 💪🏽

We’ve been intentional about creating space for youth to continue learning beyond the classroom—because growth doesn’t stop when the school bell rings 🔔. Through tutoring, skill-building, and consistent support, our students are strengthening their confidence, improving academically, and discovering their full potential. 🌱

💥SkillBuilders: Teen Pavilion Tuesdays! 💥

Today, Equity Initiative wrapped up Teen Pavilion Tuesday at the Advanced Learning Library! 🎬

Our teens tapped into their creativity during a fun and challenging “Bad Art” activity 🎨😂. They were given three unique prompts and encouraged to create art; no pressure, no perfection, just imagination and self-expression!

Thank you to the Wichita Public Library for your continued partnership and for providing a space where our youth can explore, create, and grow! 🧠

Meet Lynnx 💫

Lynnx is a proud 4th grader who has been part of our tutoring family for the past two years! She says she loves coming to sessions because of the small group setting, the different personalities she gets to connect with, and the opportunity to learn something new every time.

We’re so grateful to have Lynnx in our space and to be part of her journey. As she prepares to step into 5th grade, we’re excited to continue supporting her growth, confidence, and love for learning every step of the way 📚✨

Today in our SkillBuilders Program, we took a different approach to learning about unconscious biases! 🍝

Through our activity, “Melting Pot”, participants explored how we all carry assumptions about what “belongs” and what doesn’t.

Then we flipped the script.

Together, we created spaghetti, showing that when different ingredients come together, something powerful happens.

The lesson was simple:🤌🏾
diversity isn’t a problem to fix, it’s a strength to build on.

Moments like these are what SkillBuilders is all about, creating space for growth, reflection, and real-life connection.

Today in our SkillBuilders program, we celebrated Earth Day early with a therapeutic activity!

To wrap up the night, we made and enjoyed some delicious dirt cup parfaits!!

✨Yesterday in our Skilled Builders Program, our teens engaged in a discussion after watching an episode of “What Would You Do?”.

🎬They didn’t just discuss the scenarios, they acted them out, showing how they would step in to support others.

🥰It was inspiring to see our teens express their willingness to stand up and help when needed, reflecting one of Equity Initiative’s core values: empathy 💙.

🎶We ended the night on a fun note, making brownies, enjoying ice cream, and singing karaoke! 🎤🍦
