We founded Adventurer's Respite to create a medieval oasis for gamers, LARPers, and renaissance fair enthusiasts to enjoy and gather around. We want to do this in a way that maximizes the benefit to the community: creating sustainable grounds, boosting the environment, restoring ecosystems, creating a fantasy like setting to enjoy a tavern, general store, apothecary, armory, forge, and other medie
val town like structures. Our ultimate goal is to boost jobs, mental health, and environment in the greater Wichita Falls area. We plan to be a 2nd chance employer, a teacher of forgotten skills like blacksmithing, leatherworking, sewing, embroidery, woodworking, and sustainable farming. Once we have the land, we can immediately establish a community garden, grounds for farmer's markets (bazaars), grounds for LARPers and Renaissance Fairs, and a low cost plant nursery to encourage the planting of drought resistant and pollinator encouraging plants. These establishments will be utilized to further fundraise for the construction of the Tavern, which will include private TTRPG game rooms for our Dungeon and Dragons and other tabletop roleplaying gamer fans out there. Once we have a Tavern, it can be utilized as a place for everyone in the community to gather and find like minded people. The gaming rooms will double as therapy rooms for people with Autism and related disorders, as we work with case workers, social workers, and psychiatrists to offer Certified Gaming Therapy. We'll also be running our own beginner games, teaching people how to create characters, how to play, and hosting local DMs (Dungeon masters/game masters) for people who want to play but may not know enough people who enjoy the hobby to create their own game. Our dreams for the property and Tavern expand from there to slowly develop into a full Medieval town, but it's dependent on your interest! We can only achieve this quickly with your help.
