As part of the Good Trouble Lives On – Weekend of Action, the Wichita Falls Area Civic Engagement Coalition invites community members to BECOME VDR's by attending the Volunteer Deputy Registrar (VDR) Training.

This year's theme, "Teach! Reach! Preach!", honors the legacy of Congressman John Lewis by encouraging each of us to educate, engage, and empower our communities through civic participation.

What is Volunteer Deputy Registrar (VDR) Training?

Volunteer Deputy Registrars are trained and appointed by the county to help eligible Texans register to vote. Once appointed, VDRs can accept completed voter registration applications and ensure they are submitted according to Texas law.

Why is it important?

Voting is one of the most important ways people participate in their community. By becoming a Volunteer Deputy Registrar, you can help remove barriers to voter registration and make it easier for eligible residents to have their voices heard.

Whether you're already involved in your community or looking for a new way to serve, this training provides an opportunity to make a lasting impact.

There is no cost to attend.
Message the WF Area Civic Engagement Coalition to reserve your spot.

Rachel Wolff, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wichita Falls, spoke to the WFACEC about the organization's work and future direction.

She explained that one of the Club's priorities is empowering parents by strengthening communication, building trust, and creating opportunities for families to actively engage in their children's success.

Rachel reflected on her first two and a half years at the Centennial Club and discussed the importance of building on what is already working rather than starting over. She stressed that every decision begins with one priority: the safety and well-being of children.

A recurring theme throughout the discussion was ensuring that young people have a voice in shaping programs. Rather than making assumptions about what youth need, the organization is intentionally listening to their ideas and allowing those perspectives to influence programming and services.

She also described the organizational values guiding the Boys & Girls Clubs, including humility, stewardship, mutual accountability, and maintaining a growth mindset.

Rachel noted that healthy organizations require ongoing communication, observing that "without active conversation, contempt can grow." She encouraged continuous dialogue among partners and emphasized that looking to the past is valuable only when it helps move organizations toward action, vision, and meaningful progress.
