🐻🐾 Well, look who decided to show his face again!! 👀❤️

After several weeks of not seeing our big furry friend, guess who decided to make an appearance this evening?! 🐻😂

We were starting to wonder if he had moved on to another neighborhood, but apparently he was just taking a little break from visiting us!

I have to admit, I get a little excited every time he shows up on our cameras! There's just something amazing about having a beautiful animal like this roaming around our property. ❤️

Of course, we admire him from a VERY safe distance, and we'd prefer he stay far away from the horses and goats! 😂🐴🐐

Now here's what I want to know… 👀

🐻 Do you think this is the same bear we've been seeing for months, or could we have more than one visiting?

And more importantly… **what should we name our furry visitor?!** 😂❤️

Drop your name suggestions below! 👇🐾

Kill Buyer won her! 😡🤬 I am so sorry, Sage; we tried to keep you from going to a nasty, dirty, germ-infested lot where you will have to fight for food and water. He won her for 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣.

We might have a chance to still keep her from loading on his trailer at the end of the auction and going to the lot, but we must act quickly to raise at least 1️⃣5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣.

This is what happens when we do not win an intercept, and the kill buyers get them. The price is now higher. 😡🤬

🚨 LESS THAN 24 HOURS — PLEASE HELP US AUCTION INTERCEPT SAGE, A YOUNG BLM MUSTANG! 🚨

TODAY, October 5, Sage will walk into an auction ring where a kill buyer regularly attends. Last month, that buyer reportedly left this same auction with 30 equines.

We desperately do NOT want Sage to become one of them. 💔

Sage is a 6–8-year-old Mustang mare from the Pine Nut Mountains of Nevada.

We want to save her BEFORE she ever needs saving from a kill pen.

That is what an auction intercept is about — getting there FIRST. Before the kill buyer. Before the inflated kill-pen price. Before the desperate deadline. Before a good horse's future suddenly becomes uncertain.

And this one is incredibly personal for me. ❤️

This week marks 33 years since I lost my aunt to su***de.

My aunt introduced me to horses when I was only 5 years old. She gave me a love for these incredible animals that never left me — a love that ultimately became part of the reason **Heart of the Wild Equine Rescue** exists today.

Thirty-three years later, I cannot think of a more meaningful way to honor her memory than to save a Mustang because of the love for horses she first placed in my heart.

We would absolutely LOVE to bring Sage to safety in her honor. 🐴❤️

⏰ THE AUCTION IS TOMORROW, OCTOBER 5.

We don't know what Sage will bring in the auction ring, so we need to raise AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE BEFORE THE AUCTION STARTS.

Every 5️⃣. Every 1️⃣0️⃣. Every 2️⃣0️⃣. Every share. It all adds up and helps us to keep a mustang from landing in a "kill pen"

It all gives us a stronger chance to raise our hand tomorrow and say, “Sage is coming with us.”

🙏 Please donate if you can.
🙏 Please SHARE her everywhere tonight.
🙏 Please help us get there before the kill buyer does.

Sage shouldn't have to land in a kill pen before people decide she's worth saving.

🐴 Let's get there first.

❤️ For Sage. For every Mustang we can keep out of the pipeline. And this week, especially, in memory of the woman who started my love of horses 33 years ago.

❤️ Donations are tax-deductible: (33-2261434). Please note auction intercept when donating.

❤️ SHE’S OFFICIALLY OURS. ❤️

Some updates mean a little more than others… and this one means everything. 🥹🐴

As of September 3rd, 2026, we no longer share ownership of Lyric with the BLM.

Lyric is officially and legally ours. ❤️

Think about that for a moment.

Lyric was captured from the wild as a yearling. She then spent approximately six years in BLM holding, no bids in the 3 auctions she was in, meaning she had 3 strikes against her before eventually making her way to Heart of the Wild Equine Rescue.

Six years of waiting.

Six years without a place that was truly hers.

Then she came to us.

Over the past year, we have watched this beautiful Triple B Mustang begin to realize that this is her home. We've watched her curiosity grow, her personality absolutely BLOSSOM 😂, and her confidence build as she learned that the people around her weren't going anywhere.

But there was still one final milestone we were waiting for.

Her title.

And now, that day is coming. ❤️

We were officially notified that as of September 3rd, Lyric belongs to Heart of the Wild Equine Rescue. We are now patiently waiting for her physical title to arrive, which we were told could take approximately 6–8 weeks.

That piece of paper may not look like much when it finally arrives in our mailbox…

But to us, it represents freedom, security, permanence, and HOME.

No more shared ownership.

No more waiting to see her name officially become ours.

After being taken from the wild, after spending years in holding, and after finally finding her way to us…

Lyric has a place she belongs forever. 🥹❤️

She has her pasture.

She has her shelter.

She has people who adore her.

She has an entire community that has followed her journey and fallen in love with her sass, curiosity, pocket-checking, water-hose-turning-on antics and larger-than-life personality. 😂

And now she has something else…

She has a forever home that is legally and officially hers.

Welcome home, Lyrical Journey. ❤️🐴

You never have to wonder where you belong again.

September 3rd, 2026 — the day Lyric officially became ours. ❤️

❤️🐴 **MEET THE PEOPLE BEHIND HEART OF THE WILD EQUINE RESCUE** 🐴❤️

When people see Heart of the Wild Equine Rescue, they see the horses, the Mustangs we fight to save, the fundraisers, the happy endings, and sometimes the heartbreak.

But behind every rescue story is a group of people who keep this mission moving forward.

Today, we want to recognize the incredible **Board Members and Volunteers of Heart of the Wild Equine Rescue**. ❤️

🌟 **OUR BOARD** 🌟

🐴 **Nicole Scholl**
🐴 **Bill Patterson**
🐴 **Ellen Nelson**
🐴 **Cynthia Spano**
🐴 **Cyndee Hayward**

These are the people who believe in our mission, help guide our rescue, support the decisions that have to be made, and stand behind our commitment to protecting horses and wild Mustangs who need someone in their corner.

And we certainly couldn't do what we do without the people willing to roll up their sleeves and help!

💜 **OUR VOLUNTEERS** 💜

🐴 **Sidera Blackwell**
🐴 **Danica Gomez**

Rescue isn't glamorous.

It's early mornings, late nights, dirty clothes, hay everywhere, filling water troughs, cleaning, feeding, fixing things, cleaning up 💩, taking pictures and videos, helping with projects, and doing whatever needs to be done that day.

Some days bring incredible victories. Other days break your heart.

But through all of it, **these are some of the people who help make Heart of the Wild Equine Rescue possible.**

Every horse that comes through our gates or saved and went to their home or rescue represents a life that matters. Every Mustang we help save represents another reason we keep fighting.

It truly takes a village, and we are incredibly grateful for ours. ❤️

Please join us in recognizing **Nicole, Bill, Ellen, Cynthia, Cyndee, Sidera, and Danica** and thanking them for everything they do for **Heart of the Wild Equine Rescue and the horses we love so much.** 🐴❤️

**They may not always be the faces you see in our posts, but they are part of the HEART behind Heart of the Wild Equine Rescue.** ❤️

🐴💙 NICK UPDATE — OUR SWEET LITTLE MUSTANG 💙🐴

We thought it was time for an update on our sweet young mustang, Nick, and this boy continues to steal hearts. 🥹

Nick may be low on the totem pole when it comes to the herd, but what he lacks in rank, he more than makes up for in personality. He is incredibly calm, gentle, and absolutely LOVES attention. ❤️

For a young mustang who has already experienced so many changes in his short life, he has such a quiet, easygoing way about him. He’s content to hang back, stay out of everyone’s drama, and soak up all the love he can get from his humans. 😂

He really is just an all-around GREAT little pony. 🐴💙

Watching Nick settle in, learn his place in the herd, and become more comfortable with people is exactly what we strive for while the horses are getting ready for adoption, so they will have a successful life with their adopter. The horse you see today is so much more than a number, a brand, or a mustang who once found himself sitting in a kill pen.

He’s Nick.

He’s safe.
He’s loved.
And he has a whole future ahead of him. 🥹❤️

We can't wait to continue watching this sweet boy grow and see where his journey takes him.

Drop Nick some love in the comments! 👇💙🐴

Nick is still in need of a monthly sponsor!

* Ivar and Dusty are also seen in pictures with Nick, 2 others we saved.

😂🍑 WE HAVE A VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION. 🍑😂

Apparently, here at Heart of the Wild Equine Rescue, we don’t just rescue horses… we also have a very specific appreciation for the big booties. 🤣🐴

🎶 I like big butts and I cannot lie… 🎶
And judging by this crew, we are DEFINITELY not lacking in that department. 😂

But seriously… when your rescue horses are looking this thick, shiny, happy, and healthy, you can’t help but admire the view. ❤️

Now we need to know…

👇 WHO has the best b***y at Heart of the Wild?! 🍑🐴

Drop your vote in the comments — and yes, judging horse butts is completely acceptable here. 🤣

Warning: Watching this video may cause uncontrollable laughter and an unexpected appreciation for well-fed Mustang and Quarter Horse booties. 😂❤️

😂 VOLUNTEER PERFORMANCE REVIEW: NOT LOOKING GOOD 😂

We may need to have a serious talk with our volunteers here at Heart of the Wild Equine Rescue… because apparently we’ve gotten a little too comfortable on the job. 🤣🐴

When you’re supposed to be helping with the hay, but decide a round bale looks more like a Serta Perfect Sleeper…

There she is—laid back across the hay, feet crossed, living her absolute best life. 😴😂

Ma’am… this is a horse rescue, NOT an Airbnb. 🤣

Meanwhile, the horses are probably thinking: “Are you planning to feed that hay… or are you claiming it as your new mattress?” 🐴😂

So what do we do with a volunteer caught sleeping on the job?

😂 Write her up
🛏️ Bring her a pillow and blanket
🐴 Let the horses wake her up

In all seriousness, our volunteers work their tails off, so apparently sometimes you just have to stop and test the quality of the hay. 🤣❤️

10/10 comfort. Horse approved. Volunteer tested. 🐴🌾😂

We have 0️⃣ days left to finish this. We are out of TIME/PAST DEADLINE!

🚨🚨 URGENT — ONYX & JOLENE! 🚨🚨 9️⃣4️⃣ is the total needed, and we have 0️⃣ days to finish.

This precious BLM Mustang named ONYX is already PAST DEADLINE after sitting on the lot since JULY. The lot wants him FINISHED ASAP, and we may NOT get another warning.

🆘 ONYX ONLY NEEDS 0️⃣ TO BE FINISHED! 🆘

We are SO CLOSE on this boy. Please don't let him be left behind now! 🖤🐴

And then there is JOLENE. 💔

This beautiful BLM Mustang mare has also been sitting on the lot SINCE JULY and is already PAST DEADLINE.

🆘 JOLENE NEEDS 9️⃣2️⃣5️⃣! 🆘

The scary reality with this lot is that they do not put deadlines on their horse posts like many other lots do. The lot wants these horses finished ASAP, and we have been warned that horses can be shipped without another word.

There may be NO:
❌ 24-hour warning
❌ Final deadline post
❌ Last chance announcement

They can simply be there one day and gone the next.

That's just 9️⃣3️⃣ people giving 1️⃣0️⃣ to finish BOTH!

They've been waiting since JULY. We cannot keep waiting and hoping we'll get another warning.

🙏 PLEASE DONATE.
🙏 PLEASE SHARE.
🙏 PLEASE TAG EVERYONE YOU KNOW.
