Whether you’re excited about a candidate, concerned about an issue, or simply believe in participating in democracy, we encourage you to make a plan to vote TODAY if, you haven’t already.

We support civic engagement, informed voters, and equal access to the ballot box for all people.

Talk with your family. Check in with your neighbors. Offer a ride if someone needs one. Help make sure every eligible voter has the opportunity to be heard.

Democracy isn’t something that happens to us. It’s something we participate in.

See you at the polls, Cape May County.

Your vote is more than a checkbox. It is your voice, your power, and your place in shaping what happens next in our communities.

From local leadership to statewide decisions, the Primary Election helps determine who will appear on the November ballot and who will make decisions impacting education, healthcare, housing, public safety, environmental protections, economic opportunity, and civil rights across New Jersey and here in Cape May County.

Primary Election Day
Tuesday, June 2, 2026

The Cape May County Branch of the NAACP encourages every eligible voter to show up, speak up, and participate. Local elections matter. Your vote matters.

Bring a friend. Bring a neighbor. Bring the next generation with you so they can see democracy in action.

Join us on Saturday, June 20, 2026 for our annual Juneteenth celebration as we honor our history, celebrate our culture, and continue the work of freedom, justice, and community. In historic Whitesboro, we gather in joy, remembrance, and purpose knowing the journey is not over and the work still matters.

Be sure to join us at our next meeting on Monday May 11th and learn about all the ways we are working to educate voters and promote participation in our democracy. We'll have updates about our upcoming Candidate Forum and Voter Education events, as well as the work being done by our Observer Corps. Don't miss it!

This poem, by Melisha Anderson, holds the grief of witnessing repeated loss, especially of Black women and children, and how that weight lives in the body.

It pushes back against the idea that survival is enough, naming the exhaustion of living in fear and constant mourning.

At its heart, it’s a quiet refusal… and a call for a life that is truly lived, not just endured.

There’s a quiet kind of longing in this poem by Patricia Anderson, but it doesn’t feel lost, it feels sure. The butterfly isn’t just about flying, it’s about becoming, about moving freely in what was always meant to be. That carefree feeling isn’t random, it’s rooted in creation. And that last line settles it, the same God who designed the butterfly with intention did the same with us. It reads like a reminder that freedom isn’t something to chase, it’s something already placed inside.
