📺 DREAM in the News! 🇺🇸

We're incredibly grateful to have received $90,000 in funding through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Adaptive Sports Grant Program, helping us continue to provide year-round outdoor recreation opportunities at no cost to veterans and service members with disabilities.

Getting outdoors, building friendships, and finding community through DREAM can have a meaningful impact on physical and mental health. It's an honor to provide these opportunities to those who have served our country.

A big thank you to John for sharing his story, to the VA for its continued investment in adaptive recreation, and to our dedicated volunteers and community partners who help make these opportunities possible!

We hear it often: “DREAM has so many volunteers. Do you need more?”

The truth? Yes. We are always looking for more volunteers to directly support our participants and lessons. 💙

Our incredible volunteer team makes DREAM programs possible, but more trained volunteers mean we can support more participants, offer more lessons, and continue meeting the growing demand for adaptive recreation.

And getting started as a first-year on-snow Alpine or Nordic volunteer may be easier than you think!

⛷️ Here’s what it takes:

• 5-minute seasonal application: tell us about yourself, what are you goals!?
• About 70 minutes of online training and annual requirements: these can be completed at your own pace between now and our on-snow training in December and include a background check, read/sign code of conduct, liability waiver, and Sport Protection training
• First-year volunteer orientation: 1-hour in person or virtual; meet our team, learn more about our organization, programs, and procedures
• 6 hours of on-snow clinics for Alpine / 3 hours for Nordic: there are over 50 FUN! options to choose from in December, most are in 3 hour sessions let by clinicians from across the country!

Then, you’re ready to start supporting DREAM lessons alongside our experienced instructors and volunteers!

You don’t need to be an adaptive sports expert or have teaching experience when you come through the door. We provide the training and support to help you get started.

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering with DREAM, this winter could be your season. ❄️

More volunteers = more opportunities for people with disabilities to get outside, learn new skills, and recreate.

Participant Spotlight – October 🍂

Meet Lauren from Whitefish, MT! ✨

Lauren first learned about DREAM from her physical therapist. After hearing more about DREAM from a close friend at church, who also happens to be one of DREAM’s board members, Lauren decided to finally check out our programs this summer.

Lauren began biking with DREAM in June 2026 through our paved-path cycling program. Her most memorable moment? Simply getting on the bike and realizing she could make it move, something she said would have felt “impossible” just a year ago. 🚴

“My favorite part is, of course, being able to experience the beautiful trails we have in our area. But also, being able to spend time with DREAM's wonderful staff and volunteers!”

Now, Lauren is looking ahead to Nordic skiing with DREAM this winter and more biking in the future, all while creating beautiful memories and, in her words, “possibilities of a lifetime.” 💙

We’re so glad you’re part of the DREAM community, Lauren, and can’t wait to see where your next adventure takes you!

Gratitude post!!

Thank you to the Range Riders Foundation for partnering with DREAM Adaptive Recreation and other Flathead Valley nonprofits through their 50/50 raffle this season.

We also appreciate all the fans who pitched in to make this season a home run. Every ticket sold this season was reinvested directly into local nonprofits, including our adaptive recreation programs.
