This Juneteenth, YWCA White Plains & Central Westchester was honored to join the Town of Greenburgh in commemorating a day that calls us to both remembrance and responsibility.
As keynote speaker at the Town's Juneteenth celebration, CEO Tiffany S.W. Hamilton challenged attendees with a powerful question:
"Are we willing to confront the unfinished work of freedom?"
Juneteenth reminds us that freedom is not simply a historical milestone. It is an ongoing commitment to advancing equity, expanding opportunity, and ensuring that every person can live with dignity, safety, and the ability to thrive.
At the YWCA, our mission of eliminating racism and empowering women compels us to continue this work, not only in moments of celebration, but through our daily actions, programs, partnerships, and advocacy.
We extend our gratitude to Town Councilwoman Gina Jackson for her leadership and for ensuring that this important community celebration has continued to educate, inspire, and unite residents for the past seven years.
As we honor the resilience of those who came before us, may we each consider the role we can play in building a more just and equitable future.
