Technology-facilitated gender-based violence is something that impacts almost all survivors of domestic violence.

Technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) is the misuse of technology to commit any harmful threat directed at an individual or group based on actual or perceived s*x, gender, gender identity, s*x characteristics, or
s*xual orientation.

Examples include:
- Deepfakes
- Sextortion
- Cyberstalking
- Misusing passwords
- Text/call/message bombing
- Cyberflashing

Technology facilitated abuse occurs in 99.3% of gender-based violence situations.

Technology-facilitated abuse is a harmful trend that impacts almost all survivors of domestic violence.

Every person deserves safety in-person and online.

Location sharing apps can be a helpful tool for keeping loved ones safe, but it can also be a tactic used by abusive partners to keep control in a relationship. Learn more by reading the comments or swiping the images.

Location-sharing apps, like Life360 and Snap Map, share live locations using GPS technology that’s already on a person’s phone. They are marketed as a way to have a sense of security, but they can be used for stalking and other kinds of control.

Location-sharing apps, like Life360 and Snap Map, share live locations using GPS technology that’s already on a person’s phone. They are marketed as a way to have a sense of security, but they can be used for stalking and other kinds of control.

Abusive partners use this as a tool to coerce their partners into sharing location. They may continually check in on their partners, use their location to harass them, or monitor their movements.

All phones and apps have the ability to stop sharing location. These controls can be found in the settings of each app and in the phone settings.
