May is National Bicycle Safety Month 🚲

As the weather gets warmer and more cyclists take to the roads, the Hanover Township Police Department reminds motorists to share the road and pass bicyclists at a safe distance. A little extra space and attention can go a long way in preventing serious crashes.

Whether you’re driving or riding, stay alert, follow the rules of the road, and help keep everyone safe this spring and summer.

Trail building, clean ups, guided hikes, paddle adventures — these are just a few of the ways you can get out and celebrate National Trails Day!

Find an event near you (https://buff.ly/HpPxxVx) and be part of something bigger — whether you’re pitching in on a project or showing up to spend time outside with your community.

Don’t see an event near you, or want to celebrate in a different way? Create your own event! Being a host is easy (we've got resources available to help you!), and registering your event for others to find is even easier!

Rally your trail friends, plan something fun, and bring people together outdoors in a way that feels true to you!

We can't wait to see how you celebrate.

National Trails Day® is made possible by our generous partners. Thank you to AllTrails, GORE-TEX Brand, Fjällräven, Zen Principle, and our federal partners National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, Bureau Of Land Management, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Governor Murphy has signed the “e-bike” bill S4834/A623 into law. Restricting low-speed e-bikes will not address the real problem of high-speed e-motos and will not help make our streets safer. NJ already has a law, from 2019, that requires registration, a license, and insurance for Class 3 e-bikes which has NEVER been implemented.

NJBWC will continue to oppose this bill and work with legislators and Governor Sherrill, to create a bill that will offer practical solutions to regulate high-speed e-motos, promote the expansion of safe micro-mobility, and continue addressing the real threats to NJ’s streets, the cause of 99% of our fatal crashes, motor vehicles, not low speed e-bikes.

Who’s with us⁉️

As the statewide advocacy organization for safer streets, we are working to create a more bikeable, walkable, and rollable NJ for all. We can’t carry on without your support. Please donate TODAY to help us continue the fight: https://njbwc.org/join/
