When The Wall That Heals came to Belmont County this past weekend, it offered a place for reflection, remembrance, and healing for veterans, their families and the entire community.

Through the C. Tim Meighen Memorial Fund, a component fund of the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley, Roberta Raymond donated $5,000 to support The Wall That Heals in memory of her husband, who served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force, including 13 months in Pleiku, Vietnam.

“I wanted to give to The Wall That Heals in memory of my husband, as he served 21 years in the Air Force and spent 13 months in Pleiku, Vietnam. He was proud of his service but never really talked about it with family or friends. It was not until he joined the Pleiku Air Base Association several years before his death that he was able to open up to those men about what it was like there. I hope The Wall That Heals will bring healing and peace to other Vietnam Veterans of the Ohio Valley.” — Roberta Raymond
