Ritchie Town Renaissance Inc. is honoring the victims of 9/11 by helping local homeowners with small home repairs, with the help of a grant from Volunteer West Virginia and volunteers.

9/11 Care & Repair Project - we are in need of a volunteer with experience hanging a storm door for one of our projects helping low-income, elderly, disabled and veteran clients.

It will be this Saturday, August 16, starting around 9 am (time flexible). If you have experience and are willing to lend an hour or two of your time, we would like to hear from you! Please send a direct message!

Our Stronger Together: 9/11 Care & Repair project is in full swing! We have been at various sites doing painting, yard cleanup, drywall preparation and other tasks! We will be working on projects until the end of September. Most work is done on Saturday mornings or weekday evenings. Please consider volunteering! You can sign up at

Ritchietown Renaissance, Inc. is sponsoring the Stronger Together: 9/11 Care & Repair Project, which will provide small home repairs for low-income homeowners in South Wheeling, East Wheeling and the Island. We hope you will volunteer to assist with one or more projects, which will be during the period of Saturday, August 2 and Thursday, September 11. The work will generally be on Saturday mornings and weekday evenings between 5 and 8 pm. The type of work will be yard cleanup, painting, drywall installation, minor plumbing, electric light installation, porch repairs, and the like.

You do not need experience - you just need a desire to help others!

Ritchietown Renaissance is pleased to announce the Stronger Together: 9/11 Care & Repair Project, which is associated with the national 9/11 Day of Service. We will perform small home repair projects for modest income homeowners in South Wheeling. Projects could include things like porch repairs, painting, yard cleanup, safety improvements and the like. We cannot do major projects such as new roofs, siding or windows. Priority will be given to people over 62 years of age, people with disabilities, and veterans or widowed spouses of veterans. Projects will be performed by volunteers and must be substantially completed by 9/11/25. For more info, please read the attachments. We invite you to apply if you, and your project, meet the criteria. All projects will be reviewed before accepting. We will stop accepting applications once the slots are filled, so if you are interested, get your application in as soon as possible! More information and contact info is in the attachments. Reminder: South Wheeling Community Inventory Day is this Friday!

We're on a mission to uncover opportunities to revitalize South Wheeling, and we need your help. We are sponsoring a Community Inventory Day on Friday, January 24th from noon to 4:30 pm. We will be meeting with representatives of WVU BAD (Brownfields, Abandoned, Dilapidated) Buildings Program to learn how to identify at-risk buildings. The WVU folks will conduct training, and then, weather permitting, we will do some field work on that day -- with more when it is warmer!

By participating, you’ll help us assess local properties, gather valuable data, and lay the foundation for community-driven change. Together, we’ll turn challenges into vibrant spaces that benefit everyone!

Lunch will be served. Bring a smartphone (if you don’t have one, come anyway!), and dress warmly. Let’s create a brighter future for South Wheeling —one step at a time.
