🐾 Strengthening Partnerships in Southern Illinois! 🐾
This weekend, St. Sophia’s Director Lauren and Animal Care Manager Kelly headed to Southern Illinois to spend some time with the incredible animal control and shelter partners we’ve had the privilege of working alongside for the past 9 years through our Southern Purr Project! ❤️
A huge thank you to Jefferson County Animal Control, City of Salem Animal Control, Knox County Humane Society, and Vincennes Animal Shelter for your wonderful hospitality, for taking the time to show us around your amazing facilities, and — perhaps most importantly — for letting us squeeze in plenty of cat time along the way. 🥰🐱
After years of phone calls, messages, transports and working together to get cats where they need to go, it was so special to finally put faces to names and spend time with the people doing this lifesaving work every single day.
These partnerships are such an important part of our mission. Rescue doesn’t happen in isolation — it happens when organizations work together, share resources and step up for one another. We’re incredibly proud of the relationships we’ve built downstate and so excited to continue strengthening them so that, together, we can save even more lives. 🐾❤️
And we didn’t head south empty-handed! Thanks to an incredibly generous donation from Friskies, we were also able to distribute THREE PALLETS of canned cat food to our fosters and partner organizations downstate! 😻🥫
We are enormously grateful to Friskies for helping us support not only the cats in our own care, but the people and organizations working tirelessly for animals throughout Southern Illinois.
Nine years of partnership — and we’re just getting started. 🥰🐾
