Today, we’re celebrating the happiest ending of all... Gotcha Day! 🐾❤️

To every cat and dog who found their forever family, and to every adopter who opened their heart and home, thank you. Because of you, countless lives have been changed. From shelter kennels and foster homes to cosy beds, belly rubs, and endless love, these incredible animals finally got the second chance they deserved.

Whether you’ve been home for a week, a month, or many years, today is all about celebrating the journey, the memories, and the beautiful bond between pets and their people. Happy Gotcha Day to all of our beloved rescue alumni. We couldn’t be more grateful to be part of your story 🐶🐱✨

🎭 Why the pouty face, Ralphie? ☹️🐾

Don’t let that adorable grumpy face fool you-Ralphie is actually a sweet, loving 24-pound Cocker Spaniel who lives for butt scratches, toys, tennis balls, and being close to his favorite person.

At 4-5 years old, Ralphie is still learning that the world isn't quite as scary as he thinks it is. New people, sounds, and places can make him nervous, so he's looking for a patient adopter who will help build his confidence one day at a time. Once he bonds with you, he'll happily become your little shadow and follow you everywhere.

Ralphie would love a home with a fenced yard where he can safely enjoy his zoomies while continuing to work on his leash skills. He's making progress with potty training, does well with a slow introduction to other dogs, and is working through some resource-guarding behaviors with lots of positive reinforcement.

If you have a kind heart, a gentle approach, and plenty of petting & scratches to give, Ralphie just might be your perfect little sidekick.💜

💕 Chilly & LoLo are the definition of sisters forever. Through every chapter of life, these two beautiful girls have stayed side by side, loving each other through loss, change, and uncertainty. Now, they’re hoping someone will open their heart and home to both of them together 🐾

Born outside and rescued alongside their mama, these girls quickly learned what love felt like after being adopted into a home that absolutely adored them. They brought comfort, companionship, and joy to their owner during one of the hardest chapters of his life. After his passing, their family did everything they could to keep them safe and loved, but due to unfortunate life changes and an unsafe environment with hunting dogs, the heartbreaking decision was made to return them to ARF in hopes of finding them the peaceful forever home they deserve.

✨ Chilly is the gorgeous tabby sister with the sweetest curious soul. She can be a little shy at first, but once she feels comfortable, she becomes playful, affectionate, and incredibly silly. She loves toys and absolutely adores laying around your shoulders or neck while you relax on the couch 💛

✨ LoLo is the stunning long-haired tuxedo girl with a brave and adventurous personality. She helps Chilly feel safe, loves meeting people, and enjoys playing fetch with crumpled tin foil balls. She’s affectionate, cuddly, and will happily push her little face into your hand for kisses and pets 🖤🤍

Together, they are hilarious, loving, and completely inseparable. From stealing robe belts and dropping toys into water bowls, to standing guard while the other uses the litter box, they truly do everything together. Their favourite pastime? Watching birds from the window while curled up beside each other. 🥹🐦

🐶Is your sweet, cuddly, well-behaved puppy suddenly acting… different?

🐕‍🦺The perfect leash walker is now pulling like a sled dog. The pup who once came running over now wants to play “try and catch me.” Suddenly their hearing is selective. More wandering. Chewing.

🧠 This isn’t a form of rebellion, but a sign your dogs brain (their prefrontal cortex) is going through major changes & isn’t a purposeful action. Like a human teenager, they are learning how to navigate their world & may seem a bit rebellious.

🗓️ Don’t worry- this WON’T last forever! Your behavior and actions are important to help keep these pups the steady, ready and well-behaved dogs they were on their way to becoming before this change.

📌 Adolescence/teen years typically start around 6 months, although it can vary by breed and individual dog. For small breeds, the stage may wind down in around a year, while medium & large breeds can be in their “teenage years” until they’re 2-3 years old!

❓When does this begin, and how will you know? Here are some signs ⚠️ you should watch for:

•Increased emotional reactivity/mood swings
•More vocalization
•Decreased attention span
•Heightened fear response or bravery
•Humping or marking
•Energy spikes, more destruction, jumping
•Ignoring rules they “used to know”

How to combat 🚫 this behavior:

▪️Communicate clearly, be consistent
▪️Positive reinforcement
▪️Provide physical & mental stimulation
▪️Don’t over-stimulate!
▪️Manage fears by slow, calm exposure
▪️Patience is key!
▪️If all else fails, seek the help of a professional trainer

🪨 The tumultuous teenage phase can be a bit rocky, but it’s one of the most important stages your dog will go through. With patience, consistency and guidance, your teen puppy will grow into the well-mannered companion you’ll want to bring everywhere!🐾🚗✈️💜

Look at that adorable smiling pup 🥹💕🤗
Yoshi is the sweetest, but due to him being dumped in a forest and stuck in animal control for over five days, he takes his time warming up to new people.
Things to know about this sweet boy:
💕he is a 1.5 year old male Pomeranian and his adoption fee is $500
💖 he’s a quick learner and is doing AMAZING with house training
💘 he’s an excellent walking partner and is really getting the hang of walking with a leash
💞 he does well with other dogs, they just need to be on the softer/more docile side(he enjoys not being pushed around and honestly can you blaim him 🤷🏼‍♀️😆)
💗 he has yet to be tested with cats 🐈‍⬛
💞 he is a top tier snuggle buddy and loves to play with his toys
💓he’s already got a handful of commands down and as listed above ⬆️ he’s a quick leaner
