🎗️September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

When you think of childhood cancer, you may not immediately think about Post-Transplant Lymphoproliferative Disorder (PTLD).
PTLD is a rare but serious form of cancer that can develop in children after an organ transplant. Because transplant recipients need medications that suppress their immune system to protect their new organ, their bodies can be more vulnerable to certain cancers, including PTLD.

For transplant families, the journey doesn’t end when a child receives their life-saving gift. Sometimes, another fight begins.

We know this all too well. Our son Steve was diagnosed with PTLD two years ago after his transplant. What followed was one of the scariest chapters our family has ever faced. Today, we are incredibly grateful to be able to say he finished treatment and is doing well.

As Childhood Cancer Awareness Month comes to an end we want to shine a light on PTLD and the transplant children who face this diagnosis. Their strength with yet another battle is remarkable.

Another incredible year at the Falmouth Road Race, Inc. !!! We had 45 runners raising awareness for organ donation and pediatric transplants. They raised over $61,000 that will go directly to help children and their families.

Congratulations to our runners, you make this day so special and you all crushed those miles!!

We are so grateful for our amazing team and their friends and family who donated to them!!! Thank you! We love you all 💚💙

WHY WE RUN!! We run for all the tiny transplant titans pre-transplant, post-transplant, and those who have passed away far too young.

We run to support them and their families. We run to raise awareness for organ donation so all children needing a transplant can get a second chance at life. We run to raise awareness for pediatric transplants and the long journeys these children face.
