Important Update from Paws of Hope CT

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the temporary closure of Paws of Hope due to life’s current demands. As much as we love and care for the animals in our community, the balance between personal obligations and the immense work required to care for our rescue animals has become unsustainable at this time.

We want to assure you that this decision was not made lightly. Our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals is something we deeply care about, and we are committed to returning once we are able to give the animals the care and attention they deserve.

During this period, we will be pausing our intake of new animals. However, we are actively seeking ways to continue supporting our local animal welfare community during this time, and we encourage anyone interested in supporting other local rescues or adopting to explore available opportunities. We do currently have 6 cats that are still seeking their forever homes. Their ages range from 11 months to 3 years old. At this time, all of their adoption fees will be waived. We will be accepting donations in place of an adoption fee if the new family would like to give towards the veterinary costs and foster care of the other cats. This is entirely up to each individual and not required.

If you or someone you know are interested in adding a kitty or two to your family, please reach out!

Once things have settled and we are ready to begin the reopening process, we will be in need of volunteers for all parts of the animal rescue process, including but not limited to: running social media, assisting with trapping animals, fostering, fundraising, and so much more.
During this time away, we are still going to be working towards adding to our shelters and kennels that we have, and hopefully adding a building to act as our shelter and adoption center.

Thank you all for your incredible support. We look forward to the time when we can reopen our doors and continue our mission to save lives. Please stay tuned for updates, and in the meantime, we ask for your patience and understanding.

With gratitude,
The Paws of Hope CT Team

Besides veterinary expenses, our highest cost is kitty food!
The cats and kittens all free feed which means they have dry food 24/7. They get wet food anywhere from 3x a day to every other day depending on the cat, age, and dietary needs.

This is a smaller serving of when they all get wet food!!! In fact, this picture is missing a can as I forgot about one of the cuddly fosters that was sleeping on someone's bed :)

We also use roughly 50lbs (more or less - usually more) of dry cat and kitten food per week and a hefty amount of litter!!!

Thankfully over the past few months we did receive several donations from donors who wish to remain anonymous.

While our rescue has mostly been functioning off of social media, we do understand that many members of our community and following would live frequent social media updates.
We do have 1 very kind person who may be volunteering to help us run some of our social media outlets :)

If you wish to volunteer, whether it be by fostering, donating, or helping run a social media page on one of the various platforms, please send us a message :)

Even something as simple as sharing our page and posts is a huge help to us :) Thank you!!

*injured sweet boy on buckland. Is he yours?*

Is anyone missing him? He is an unaltered male. Very friendly. He has been hanging around our house for a week or so, so he may live close by. I am on buckland. He let's you pet him.
He has what seems to be a gash from an abscess and some other cuts and gashes on his face. I can fix him up and he has been eating and drinking well with my outdoor cats as well as sharing their shelter (2 of by cats refuse to be inside for longer than a few minutes so they have a nice outdoor setup)

He is so sweet and seems like he has or had a very loving family. This is not a cat that has always lived on the street, nor one we have seen prior to a couple weeks ago.

I will also post this on other wethersfield pages.

Almost 3 weeks ago we got a call that a cat had given birth to some babies that were now in a rotting, rusty, falling apart dresser next to an apartment building.
This cat is part of a colony that has a very loving caretaker! She had realized that Patitas was pregnant and seemed like she would give birth soon. She called many other rescues and hadn't heard back, so she ordered a cat shelter for momma cat that was going to be delivered later in the day we came! That day was 1 day too late for Patitas since she gave birth only the day prior!
Once she called us, we got the team together with our traps and such, headed over and got momma cat and all 4 of the 1 day old babies safe and sound :)
In the almost 3 weeks, Patitas went from a very shy, typical stray cat with no desire to be close enough to a human to be touched- to a sweet little girl who didn't even growl a little for her nail trim this time, took a dose of dewormer without any issues, and even stayed and cuddled a bit before going into her new apartment! Her and her babies will be upgraded soon to a much bigger living area, as the babies are about to start weaning and using a litter box! (The new space comes complete with tons of toys and some cat tunnels too :) )

Patitas and her kittens, Pandy, Pocky, Pina, and Panko, will be available for adoption in July! They will all receive their vet care along with a spay for momma cat! We will not know the date the kittens will be available for a bit longer as we will see how they are doing weaning, litter box training, and being apart from mom. They will be available between the 10th and 14th weeks :)

If you are interested in adopting any of our newest kitties (or our longer term residents!!!!) Please fill out our adoption application pinned to the top of our page :)

We are also looking for volunteers for several aspects of our rescue, including fostering :)
Send us a message with any questions!

We do ask for your patience with some of our social media sites as we are working towards revamping some with a new makeover :)

It is times like these where I need to work on my video skills and get a kitty proof microphone! If you could hear the purrs in this. Pip decided she needed some love and proceeded to jump from the floor into my arms while i was standing. Thankfully she is more agile than I am because I was unprepared and scrambled a bit to hold her for a second 🤣🤣🤣
Pip is still waiting for her forever home!! Her mom is also currently being fostered as well :) all of Pip's siblings have gone to loving homes ❤️❤️❤️
This baby is such a complete lovebug and has the cutest little sound she makes to talk. It is different than her meow and almost sounds like a goose honking 😂😂😂😂
