Recognized as an All State Post, serving the communities of Platte City, Weston, Edgerton, Dearborn, Tracy, Camden Point and the surrounding areas.

We provide information for VA claims, support our local communities, and offer aid to veterans in need. VFW Facebook User Code of Conduct

Our Post placed 578 flags on the graves of Veterans and Auxiliary interred at the 3 local cemeteries near Platte City (Platte city, Larkin and Hampton cemeteries).

VFW Post 56 is hosting a Women's Veteran Event

Fort Leavenworth area women who have served or are currently serving — we created this event for you!!

On May 30, we’re hosting Women Veterans Engage at VFW Post 56 in Leavenworth, a one-day event created to bring together women veterans and women currently serving in Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserve.

The day will include opportunities to connect with other women who understand the unique experiences of military service, hear from speakers in veteran wellness and whole-health care, visit resource tables, and take part in a panel discussion focused on life during and after service.

Whether you separated years ago or are still serving, this is a space designed for connection, support, and continued service alongside other women in the military community.

Seats are intentionally limited to keep the experience meaningful and connection-focused.

If you’re a woman who served or is currently serving, we would love to have you join us.

We are also still seeking community sponsors and partners who would like to support this event and help us make it possible for the women in our military community.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone from Post 4055, may every one have plenty of turkey football and family time, and please while we celebrate let us remember our service members that are deployed away from their families for the holidays.

Members of the post will be hosting a booth at the Platte City Winter Fest and Tree lighting event. Come on out on Wednesday November 26th from 5-8 pm enjoy the event and stop by and say hello!

Good weekend out, meeting the community and veterans, the post spent a few hours on Saturday in Weston at Sharps handing out Buddy Poppies and information to veterans of the community.

September 25th 5-8 pm Main Street Fall Festival in Platte City, post will have a booth with Veterans Information Officer! Come out and enjoy the festivities and stop by and see us.
