We are so excited to share something new coming to Taylor’s Place!

Beginning soon, our participants and their caregivers are invited to join us every Monday at noon for a free, freshly cooked meal at Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church in Eldersburg.

This amazing church is opening its doors to our group and creating a welcoming space where friends can gather around the table, enjoy a meal together, play some games, connect with others in the community, and simply spend time together.

No program. No pressure.

Just good food, good conversation, and good company.

We are incredibly grateful to Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church for being so excited to host Taylor’s Place and for helping us create another consistent opportunity for our friends to come together each week.

🎨 Colorful Creations = COMPLETE! 🎨

We may have been racing the clock a little today 😂, but we pulled it off!

This was a BIG project with lots of steps — painting papers, cutting colorful shapes, rolling and molding clay, and finally putting everything together to build our sculptures.

And WOW. 🤩 Pictures really don’t do them justice. They turned out absolutely awesome! I love seeing how everyone starts with the same supplies and somehow creates something completely their own.

Another fun afternoon of creating, laughing, and spending time with friends at Taylor’s Place. 🌟

And now… NEXT UP: LUNCH BUNCH! 🍳🥞☕️

We’re heading to IHOP this Thursday for lunch and some time together.

🎨 Art Club Is Tomorrow!

A lot of our friends are on vacation so we still have a few spots open for Colorful Creations: Sculptures, and we’d love for you to join us!

Tomorrow we’ll be getting creative, working with our hands, trying something new, and making one-of-a-kind sculptures together.

Art days at Taylor’s Place are about so much more than the finished project. They’re a chance to create, learn, laugh, and spend time with friends.

💙 Sometimes You Just Need One Good Meeting

Yesterday, I’ll admit, I was feeling pretty discouraged.

Building Taylor’s Place has been incredibly rewarding, but some days the challenges feel heavy.

Finding partners.

Raising money.

Finding volunteers.

Trying to create enough opportunities while also figuring out how to make everything sustainable.

There are moments when I wonder if I’m pushing too hard or expecting too much too soon.

And then today happened.

I walked into a meeting hoping maybe we could find one small way to work together.

I walked out with conversations happening around the possibility of:

🍽️ A free weekly lunch for Taylor’s Place participants
🎤 A space for karaoke immediately afterward
❤️ Volunteer opportunities through a food pantry
🎨 An art therapy program led by members of the community
📖 And possibly even a Bible study for those who would like to participate

Nothing is official yet, so I’m keeping the details quiet for now…

But I left that meeting feeling completely different than I did yesterday.

It reminded me that building Taylor’s Place isn’t going to happen all at once.

It’s going to happen one conversation, one relationship, one partnership, and one “yes” at a time.

And sometimes, right when you’re starting to feel discouraged, something happens that reminds you why you keep going.

There are some really exciting things in the works for Taylor’s Place, and I can’t wait to see where they lead. 💙

Thank you to everyone who continues to encourage us, connect us with others, volunteer, donate, share our posts, and believe in what we’re building.

One door at a time. We’re getting there.

💙 National Nonprofit Day

Today is National Nonprofit Day, and it feels a little surreal to realize that Taylor’s Place is now part of this incredible community of organizations working to make life better for the people around them.

We are still very new.

We are still learning.

We are still building.

But in just a few short months, I’ve already seen what can happen when people come together around a shared vision.

Friendships have formed.

New experiences have been tried.

Community partners have opened their doors.

Volunteers have stepped forward.

Businesses and individuals have donated, sponsored, shared our mission, and encouraged us to keep going.

And the dream keeps getting bigger.

My hope for the future of Taylor’s Place is to eventually make every activity we offer free for our participants — from bowling and music therapy to field trips, classes, holiday parties, and large community events.

We aren’t there yet, but I’m working hard behind the scenes to build the partnerships, funding, volunteer team, and foundation that can help make that possible.

On National Nonprofit Day, I just want to say thank you to every person who has helped Taylor’s Place get this far.

🍽️ Love Good Food & Good Company? We Need You! 💙

Taylor’s Place is looking for a volunteer Lunch Bunch Coordinator to help lead one of our simplest—but most meaningful—monthly gatherings.

Lunch Bunch is exactly what it sounds like: a relaxed meal at a local restaurant where adults with disabilities can get together, catch up with friends, meet someone new, and enjoy time out in the community.

We’re looking for one warm, organized person to help make it happen each month.
As our Lunch Bunch Coordinator, you would:

✨ Choose a Carroll County restaurant each month
✨ Make the reservation and confirm the details
✨ Send the information to me so we can get the event posted
✨ Join us for lunch, welcome everyone as they arrive, and help make the group feel comfortable and connected

The time commitment is just a few hours of planning each month, plus the lunch itself.

You might be perfect for this role if you love people, enjoy trying local restaurants, are dependable, and would enjoy helping create a place where friendships can grow over a meal.

Sometimes something as simple as lunch together can become the highlight of someone’s week. 💙

🚌 Love Planning Adventures? We Need You! 💙

Taylor’s Place is growing, and we’re looking for a volunteer Field Trip Coordinator to help us keep the adventures coming!

Our goal is to offer at least one fun community outing each month — exploring Carroll County and beyond, trying new things, visiting local attractions, and making memories together.

We’re looking for someone who would enjoy taking the lead on those adventures.

As our Field Trip Coordinator, you would:
✨ Help choose a fun outing each month
✨ Contact locations and work out the details
✨ Send the information to me so we can get it posted and promoted
✨ Join us on field trip day and help lead the adventure from start to finish. All of our participants have caregivers and you are not responsible for their care.

The time commitment is just a few hours of planning each month, plus the outing itself.

You might be perfect for this role if you’re organized, dependable, love discovering fun places, and enjoy bringing people together.

And the best part?

You’ll get to help create some of the experiences our friends may talk about for months afterward. 💙

💙 A Little Honesty Tonight…

Building Taylor’s Place has been one of the most exciting, meaningful—and sometimes overwhelming—things I’ve ever done.

Some days I look at how quickly we’re growing, the friendships being made, the people showing up, the community partnerships beginning to form, and all the ideas we have for the future…and I think, “Wow. This is really happening.”

And then there are days when I question everything.

Am I doing enough?

Am I doing it right?

What should we work on next?

How do I turn all of these ideas into something that will still be here years from now?

I’m learning as I go. And to be honest, it’s all a little scary. Sometimes that means getting something right. Sometimes it means changing direction. And sometimes it means sitting at my computer for far too long trying to figure out how to add a mailing-list signup to a website. 😂

But tonight I reminded myself of something:

Taylor’s Place doesn’t have to become everything overnight.

We just have to keep building it—one friendship, one activity, one partnership, one volunteer, and one little step at a time.

So today’s little step was improving our website and creating an easier way for people to stay connected with Taylor’s Place.
