Mother’s Day can hold so many emotions in the childhood cancer community. 💛

For some moms, it’s spent beside a hospital bed.
For some, it’s balancing medications, appointments, trying to get their child to eat, and exhaustion while still trying to make the day still feel special.
For some, it’s celebrating milestones they once prayed for.
And for others… it’s carrying the unimaginable weight of missing a child they love deeply.

Today, we honor all of them.

The mothers advocating fiercely.
The mothers surviving minute by minute.
The mothers showing up even when they’re completely exhausted.
The mothers carrying grief and love at the same time.

At Just In Power Kids, we are endlessly inspired by the strength of the moms in this community. It is a privilege to walk alongside you through the hardest and most beautiful moments alike.

Happy Mother’s Day to every mama in our community. You are seen, appreciated, and deeply loved 💛

Yesterday was Bereaved Mother’s Day.

A day that holds so much love… and so much loss.

Today, and every day, we’re still holding space for the mothers who have had to say goodbye to their children.

The ones who carry them in their hearts every single day.

You are seen.
You are not forgotten.

We honor you yesterday, today, and always 💛

This stack represents $10,000 in parking passes.

Not treatment.
Not medication.

Just… parking.

At Johns Hopkins Hospital, it costs families around $15 a day to be there with their child. (The garage is owned by the city of Baltimore, not the hospital.)

And when a child is admitted for weeks, or even months at a time, that cost adds up quickly.

The last thing a parent should be thinking about is how much it costs just to sit beside their child’s hospital bed.

At Just In Power Kids, we help cover parking so families can focus on what matters most 💛

We provide 20-30 parking pass booklets every month—
which means stacks like this don’t last long.

Because simply being with your child shouldn’t come with a price tag.

Your support helps make this possible.

Drop a 💛 if you didn’t know families have to pay for parking during treatment.

Behind every bag is a child walking into something they never should have to face.

And sometimes…
it’s other children helping carry that weight 💛 Power Kid, Isla, helped to pack this one.

At Just In Power Kids, we support families facing a childhood cancer diagnosis right here in Maryland—
with meals, parking, and care packages when they need it most.

Because no family should have to do this alone.

Drop a 💛 to stand with these families.

🎗️ February 15 — International Childhood Cancer Day 🎗️

Today we stand with the bravest fighters in the world — children facing cancer.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of families hear the words no parent should ever have to hear: “Your child has cancer.” In that moment, life changes forever. Alongside the fear and heartbreak comes an overwhelming reality of medical, financial, and emotional challenges.

No family should have to face that journey alone.

That’s why Just In Power Kids exists — to come alongside families in Maryland (or receiving treatment in Maryland) and help lighten the burdens that are often overlooked.

💛 We support families by providing:

• Parking assistance at Johns Hopkins Hospital
• Clean, nourishing meals for families during treatment
• “Power Packs” filled with essentials, comfort items, and activities for kids
• Protein powder, blenders, and nutrition support when needed
• Help covering medical necessities not covered by insurance
• Travel assistance for treatment and second opinions
• Funeral expense assistance when families face the unimaginable

Because when a child is fighting for their life, families should be able to focus on what matters most — their child.

Today, we honor the warriors, remember the angels, and stand beside the families still in the fight.

🎗️ Together, we can make their journey a little lighter.

The holidays can look very different for families walking through pediatric cancer.

Some are celebrating in hospital rooms—stringing lights along IV poles, opening gifts between scans, and finding joy in the smallest moments.

Some are home, trying to keep traditions alive while balancing medications, fatigue, and the quiet weight of uncertainty.

Some are navigating isolation to protect fragile immune systems, missing gatherings, school concerts, and the simple comfort of being together.

Some are holding hope and fear side by side—smiling for siblings, grieving what’s been lost, and still showing up with more strength than anyone should have to find.

Some are carrying the holidays with broken hearts— parents whose arms feel emptier, whose traditions ache with absence, who are learning how to breathe through a season their child should still be here to see.

Wherever this season finds you—whether full of joy, exhaustion, gratitude, grief, or all of the above—
you are seen, you are loved, and you are not alone. 🤍

Sending love to you all this holiday season.

Thanksgiving looks different for families facing childhood cancer.
While many are gathering around tables today, some families are gathered around hospital beds. Some are spending the day juggling medications, monitoring fevers, or waiting on lab results. Some are remembering a child who should still be here.

Childhood cancer changes everything — holidays included.

Today, we honor:
🧡 The children spending Thanksgiving in the hospital, fighting battles no child should ever face.
🧡 The siblings celebrating with an empty chair, missing their brother or sister more than words can say.
🧡 The parents holding it all together, even when their hearts are heavy and exhausted.
🧡 The families remembering a child taken far too soon, carrying both love and grief into this holiday season.
🧡 The communities who show up, offering meals, hope, support, and comfort when it’s needed most.

This Thanksgiving, we’re spreading awareness — because childhood cancer doesn’t pause for the holidays.
But we’re also spreading gratitude — for the strength of our Power Kids, the bravery of their families, and the supporters who make sure no Maryland family walks this journey alone.

From our Just In Power Kids family to yours,
we see you, we honor you, and we are grateful for you.

💛 Book Drive Update! 💛

In September, we held a book drive for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month — and so many of you showed up with love and support. 💛

Yesterday, Power Kid Isla joined us to help place Just In Power Kids stickers on each book. These stickers share information about our nonprofit and how we help families right here in Maryland who are facing childhood cancer.

By adding these stickers, it’s our hope to reach even more families — so they know that Just In Power Kids can help with meals, parking passes, and reimbursement for medical needs and other essentials during and after treatment. 💙💛

Today, we had the absolute honor of delivering 155 books, activity books, puzzles, and games to the oncology floor at Johns Hopkins Children's Center. 📚✨

From your hands to theirs, these stories and activities carry hope, comfort, and connection — reminding every child and family that they are not alone in this fight.

Thank you for helping us make a difference — one page, one puzzle, and one child at a time. 💛

This Halloween, we don’t *want* to, but we need to share some scary math with you. 👻

🧮 The National Institutes of Health spends $7.2 billion on cancer research each year. Seems like a lot, right? Well…

🎗️ Only 4% of that — about $288 million — goes toward pediatric cancer research.

🍬 Meanwhile, Americans spend about $3.9 billion on Halloween candy every year.

That’s more than 13 times what our nation invests in researching and curing childhood cancers. 😳

Our children deserve so much more. 💛

PLEASE SHARE to help bring awareness for more funding, research, and support for kids fighting cancer.
