UPDATE: Great News!! Our friendly neighborhood Staff Sergeant has a beautifully repaired roof, new ceilings, and insulation, and some extra painting done just for good measure. We worked in tandem with local contractors for water/mold remediation, and I'm pleased to say that we had their home back in pre-tornado condition (what a weird phrase) within 14 days. We're very proud of this joint effort.

This is exactly why we do what we do. 100 mph winds from a Tornado in Anne Arundel County launched tree limbs through a Staff Sergeant's roof.

Their insurance company discouraged them from filing a claim because "the repair is inexpensive" and did NOT send a stabilization team to tarp the roof, or water mitigation team to prevent water damage. This family's ceiling ended up so wet that water was pouring in through their ceiling fan light fixture. All that drywall and insulation needs to be replaced. With a team effort from a local roofer, the roof was buttoned up, and we started mitigation as soon as we found out what happened.

Behold the B.A.T. Mobile! (Battlefield Assistance Team Mobile 😎)

Today, VTSA's iron horse ensured we were able to do some work for a local Vietnam War Veteran, and then on to La Plata to help a Navy Veteran's family bring their electrical system into compliance with NEC safety standards. Next to our selfless volunteers and supporters, this 2003 F-250 is the lifeblood of our mission. My only concern is that the whistle from the turbo triggers GWOT veterans who spent time in Stryker units (IYKYK)🤣

Don't forget, we are teaming up with local charities and the Chesapeake Baysox (local Minor League Team affiliated with the Baltimore Orioles) for a community fundraiser on 18 June 2026.

Great opportunity provide a family fun environment and raise money for veterans in need. Veterans Trade Skills Association is the non-profit we are assisting and they are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing no-cost emergency home repairs and hazard mitigation for disabled and at-risk veterans.

All while training veterans through hands-on, on-the-job trade skills development.

In 2025, they raised over $30,000 to conduct no-cost emergency repairs for active duty service members and disabled veterans. The Chesapeake Baysox learned of this and offered to support the military community to help at-risk and disabled veterans/active service members.
