Not every job has to be large to be important. We were referred to a woman recovering from eye surgery who had no lights in the downstairs of her home. It was a significant fall hazard. It turned out this is where she has built a tribute to her late husband, who was killed in the line of duty in Vietnam, but couldn't see his photographs on the shelf easily anymore. We replaced light fixtures, and found out the wiring situation was downright dangerous. Aluminum wiring lugged to copper with uninsulated blocks, wiring touching the sharp edges of fixtures without clamps, and NO GROUNDING. A lot of times we run into poor installations that are at least somewhat safe, but this was downright DANGEROUS. This home had other fixtures wired with gutted extension cords, and junctions were outside of the walls with nothing but loose wire nuts (also not grounded). These fixtures stopped working, and she lived like this for years. Now she has brilliant light, and can see the photographs of her husband whenever she likes.
