🧡 THANK YOU 🧡

The First Annual Run for RMC 5K & 1-Mile Walk was an incredible success.

Today, 61 participants and 28 volunteers came together at Stanley Park to honor the life and legacy of Antonio Angel Ortiz, raise awareness of Renal Medullary Carcinoma (RMC), and support the mission of the Tactical Tone Memorial Foundation.

What began as an idea to turn grief into action became a day filled with remembrance, hope, community, and purpose.

We are deeply grateful to every participant, volunteer, sponsor, donor, community partner, family member, and friend who helped make this event possible. Your support allowed us to share Antonio’s story, raise awareness about RMC, and remind others that no one faces this journey alone.

The memorial flags stood in honor of lives lost to RMC. Stories were shared. New friendships were made. Awareness was raised. And together, we honored those whose lives continue to inspire this mission.

This was more than a race.

It was a community coming together to make a difference.

Additional photos, results, and thank-yous will be shared in the coming days, but tonight we simply want to say:

Thank you for believing in this mission.

🧡 A Story of Hope and Resilience 🧡

Today, we were inspired by the story of a young man living with Stage 4 kidney cancer who was surprised at his graduation by the doctor who has been part of his journey.

Moments like these remind us that cancer is more than a diagnosis. It is a journey marked by courage, perseverance, hope, and the support of those who walk beside us along the way.

They also remind us why awareness, research, and compassionate care matter. Every milestone reached, every challenge overcome, and every moment of support can make a lasting difference for patients and families facing cancer.

On National Cancer Survivors Day, we celebrate survivors, honor those we have lost, and stand with every individual and family navigating a cancer journey.

Stories like this inspire us to continue our mission of raising awareness for renal medullary carcinoma, supporting families, and advocating for a future where more young people have the opportunity to reach life’s important milestones.

No One Gets Left Behind. 🧡

The world is shedding happy tears over the extraordinary bond between a doctor and her teenage patient who became like family.

Our hearts are broken for another family facing the unimaginable loss of a loved one to Renal Medullary Carcinoma (RMC).

No parent, sibling, child, spouse, or friend should have to hear this diagnosis, and no family should have to endure the heartbreak that follows.

Today, we remember this young man, Dawann Steagall Jr. We will honor his life, and hold his family in our thoughts and prayers.

Every loss reminds us why awareness matters. Why education matters. Why research matters. And why we must continue working toward a future where families no longer have to face this devastating disease.

To his family and loved ones: we are truly sorry and you are not alone.

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of James, a cherished member of the Chris “CJ” Johnson Foundation family.

Whenever we traveled to Texas and gathered with Ms. Ritchie, he was always there with a smile, a joke, and a warm welcome. He had a special way of making everyone feel like family. Antonio always looked forward to seeing him, and he never failed to make sure Antonio had plenty to eat and felt included around the table.

Some people make a lasting impression not through grand gestures, but through simple acts of kindness, generosity, and laughter. He was one of those people.

We are grateful for the memories, the conversations, the laughs, and the kindness he showed to Antonio and our family during a difficult chapter of our lives.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and everyone at the Chris “CJ” Johnson Foundation as they mourn this tremendous loss.

Rest in Heaven, James. Your kindness and friendship will never be forgotten. 🧡

Please keep our community lifted in prayer. Last week, we lost a true hero.
