November is just around the corner, and we’re inviting Monroe County families to join the Small Talks Challenge!
Throughout November, families will receive 15 conversation starters to help parents and caregivers talk with their kids about making safe, healthy choices.
Small Talks encouragers families to start talking about alcohol and other substance use early and often. These conversations don’t have to be big or complicated. Even small, everyday talks can make a difference.

We are excited to announce our newest Board Director, Alexander Devine. Most of you know him as AyJay. He brings enthusiasm, energy, knowledge, compassion and a fantastic work ethic to our foundation. He is celebrating over two years of sobriety and has a heart for the recovery community. He was also one of Amara’s very good friends—almost like a brother to her. Join us in welcoming him to our Board of Directors!

Last night we presented to the confirmation classes at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in West Salem. Some of the parents and congregation came, too. What a fantastic group of kids! Very open and kind. We focused on the dangers of laced vapes and candy. We told Mari and Karl’s stories and discussed mental health and the importance of seeking help if they ever felt depressed or bullied or unworthy. To the community of West Salem—whatever you’re doing to raise wonderful kids, it’s working. We’d come back in a heartbeat! Pray that our messages stick with them for their lifetime.
