Westborough Education Parent Initiative - WEPI

Westborough Education Parent Initiative - WEPI WEPI provides training to district teachers on the Social Thinking curriculum, aimed at improving social thinking abilities and related skills in students.

WEPI is a parent initiative working with the Westborough Public School District to bring the Social Thinking curriculum to the elementary and middle school levels. Social Thinking is an innovative program (developed by Michelle Garcia Winner, www.SocialThinking.com) that encourages social and emotional thinking, and complements the responsive classroom approach currently being used in Westborough.

It was initially developed with special education students in mind, but when implemented school-wide to general education students, it has improved the school climate and standardized test scores, and has reduced teacher burnout, problem behaviors, and bullying.
