Like any nonprofit organization, it's crucial for the Agape Empowerment Center to critically understand foundations and family offices in order to secure funding. That why we were so excited to have two rock stars join our Governing Board in Michael Canney and Christopher Meyer.

Both Mr. Canney, formerly an officer at Morgan Stanley and founder of the Community Foundation for Inspired Giving; and Mr. Meyer, Senior Vice President with the Strada Education Foundation, bring considerable experience to the table and will be invaluable in our efforts to get our message out to funding sources throughout the globe.

We knew it was important that we build our board with solid professionals who can bring the critical thinking and strategic planning skills to run an organization that can bring a country-changing vision to the children of Liberia.

Sometimes we're amazed at the generosity of people and the power of the Agape Empowerment Center story. As you can see from the map below, people from all over the United States (states highlighted in yellow) have lent their support to our work in Liberia. We hope the spread of yellow continues across America and to countries around the globe. Join us, won't you?

Our research tells us that Liberians abroad annually send over $300 million in remittances (think about that for a country that has an $800 million budget). While it's great that members of the diaspora provide this type of financial support, we believe that Liberia's silent superpower might be the skills, networks and knowledge the diaspora possesses that could clearly reshape Liberia's future.

As we think about the Liberian Americans who are part of the Agape Empowerment Center, we can't help but wonder how they and a whole lot of people like them could be used to benefit Liberia. People like Sam Gabriel, the founder of the Genesis Youth Foundation; Clarice Ford-Kulah, a professor, writer and educator; Wilmot Collins, the mayor of Helena, Montana; P. Ernest Parker, Jr., a financial management guru; or Sean Xavier Williams, a visionary entrepreneur.

These are just a few of the incredibly talented Liberian Americans connected to our organization and leads us to ask how we can move the diaspora from remittances to strategic engagement? We'd love to hear your thoughts because the talent level and experience any of these folks could bring to the table can bring unparalleled change to Liberia.

When we were last in Liberia in June, specifically in Grand Bassa County and the Buchanan port area, we couldn't contain our excitement for the potential for this seaport. Seeing how hard the locals were working to make a living in the fishing sector, we knew they were just a little bit of technology away from creating a profitable fishing industry.

Now with the arrival of The Sea King, the nation's first ever semi-industrial fiberglass fishing vessel and news of a state-of-the-art fish processing facility in Little Bassa (see article below), it's clear that the time is NOW for private investors and philanthropists to be investing in the future of Buchanan and Grand Bassa.

Combine this with the country-changing campus we are building a few miles up the road, and the future is clearly bright. When we look to the future we see thousands of kids getting a best-in-class education and thriving enterprise zones that will have many across West Africa taking notice. Join us, won't you? You've never had a philanthropic ROI like you will on this one!

Now, this is exciting and would be an incredibly big deal! Liberia, a country that was once a beneficiary of UN peacekeeping, endured two civil wars, and has gradually moved from conflict to global engagement is seeking a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2026-27 term.

All of us at the Agape Empowerment Center are cheering this application on. Join us, won't you?

IT'S HAPPENING!!! Earlier this morning in Liberia a crew began work on the topographical survey at our land in Grand Bassa County. The survey will then allow for the buildings of the campus to be laid out in the most efficient way as we prepare to break ground on this country-changing project in November. We are so grateful and blessed. Join us, won't you?

All of us at the Agape Empowerment Center are saddened by the loss of Pope Francis. We draw inspiration from his love for the marginalized in the world and the work we do when he offered up these words.

"Openness to God makes us open towards the marginalized of this world, and gives us the courage to leave the confines of our own security and comfort to become bruised, hurting and dirty as we joyfully approach the suffering other in a spirit of solidarity."

Happy Easter from all of us at the Agape Empowerment Center.
