Congratulations to Jill Schuster-Syed, recipient of the ACOFP-UMW Family Physician Student Service and Achievement Award!

Throughout medical school, Jill demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to osteopathic family medicine, serving as President of the DMU ACOFP Student Chapter and representing students on the affiliate society board. Her continued involvement during the transition to ACOFP-UMW has made a lasting impact.

Please join us in congratulating Jill on this well-deserved recognition and wishing her success in the next chapter of her career!

The Upper Midwest Chapter of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians is honored to present the Family Physician Student Service and Achievement Award to a graduating osteopathic student who has been active in the DMU – ACOFP Student Chapter and the then Iowa , now Upper Midwest, Chapter of ACOFP.

This year’s award winner, Jill Schuster-Syed, served as president in the DMU Student Chapter of ACOFP from February 2023 until February 2024. During that time, she served on the board of then Iowa-ACOFP and her contributions to discussions were meaningful, as she represented the student voice. When her term ended, she continued to be involved with ACOFP’s student chapter, the Iowa Chapter, and, for the past year, the newly formed Upper Midwest Chapter which is comprised of six states. I am pleased to report that Jill matched into family medicine and will doing her residency in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Two Options To Participate: Flexibility For The Family Physician

To better serve our regional audience, we're offering two different options to participate! Attendees may select to join us in-person in Des Moines, or may opt for a live, virtual experience. While nothing can match the connection, camaraderie and collaboration that an in-person event can offer, our new membership model spans several states, and we know travel can be a barrier.

However you plan to join us, we're excited to see you in September!
