College Admissions and Financial Aid Assistance

College Admissions and Financial Aid Assistance Wise Up is a 501(c)3 organization created to assist at risk youth through the overwhelming process of college/trade school admissions and financial aid.

Our mission is to assist at-risk youth with proven desire and ability through the college admission and financial aid process, providing ongoing mentoring through degree completion. We do this by working with high school students to find the most appropriate colleges or trade schools to apply to - those that will best provide the education they are seeking in their chosen field and at the same tim

e will give them the best financial aid. We work with them through the entire application process and help by filling out all financial aid forms. Once in college, we continue to work with students through our mentoring program. Students remain part of our program until they finish their schooling, even if they continue on to grad school.

So many at-risk students try to navigate the admissions and financial aid quagmire on their own. These students try so hard to be independent that they mess up their opportunities by not checking email, missing deadlines, not asking for help, etc. It's no wonder that only 10% of them end up with a college degree. Obviously, we are here to help!! Our mentoring program is one huge proven success.

There are so many great stories being lived right now! Some of our students are just beginning their journey in post secondary education, and the need for our expert services is growing. It is exciting to see the little victories, but there is so much misinformation and what we call "systemic speed bumps" that generally derail students from continuing on to college or trade school.

Please help us help more at-risk high school students! Go to our website for more complete information:

There is no such thing as a free lunch...

Who doesn't like the idea of attending college without worrying about the cost of tuition? But students and their families should take a closer look at the fine print of these offers before they commit. Here's why.

At WISE UP we have the privilege of working with a group of seniors from Trenton High School. Some have already been accepted into their college of choice and others are still waiting to hear.

We recently had the opportunity to introduce ourselves to a group of 10 freshmen and sophomores also from Trenton High School. We would like to begin working with these students to guide them in the college admission and financial aid process to give them the best chance of success in college but WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Without adequate funding, we will not be able to continue to add students to our program. Won't you please consider making a donation today to help these students? Click the Donate button below to donate now. Thank you!

An interesting article about a woman who applied to over 68 colleges and received 39 acceptances so far. The article mentions her having to write over 20 essays. Not surprisingly, she described the time she applied to all these schools as "Stressful, to say the least."
At WISE UP we take a different approach which is much less stressful. By spending time with the students one-on-one, we get to know them individually. We present the students with a list of schools that will be a good fit for them so when they apply, they are only applying to 4-8 schools that they actually are interested in attending. When the acceptances come in, we look at all the financial aid offers from each school and assist the student in their final selection.

Jordan Nixon got into 39 colleges without any celebrity parents or $500,000 bribes. But that doesn't mean it wasn't "stressful to say the least."

Just a quick update... we are looking to add another 25 high school juniors and sophomores in the first part of 2019. Our current group of seniors are waiting for their acceptance letters and all financial aid requirements are being submitted.

If you are interested in assisting at-risk youth with their college or trade school plans, please consider how you can help us help them with a one-time donation or a monthly gift... we appreciate any amount as we continue to grow.

Check out www.wiseupforcollege.org for information and to donate.
