We recently hosted Dr. Hill from Cornea Consultants of Nashville to our eye bank.

It was a great opportunity to work with a new DSAEK inserter that we’re excited to add to our services soon. We always value the opportunity to collaborate with our physician partners, learn from their experiences, and gain insight from their perspective.

We’re grateful for opportunities like these that help us continue to grow and improve the services we provide to our community.

What a great way to kick off an exciting weekend in Nashville!

Our team enjoyed gathering for dinner as we prepare to partner with the Cornea Society to host the annual Fellows Educational Summit at our Nashville office.

We’re excited for the weekend ahead and grateful for the opportunity to bring together colleagues, leaders, and fellows in corneal care for this special event. We’re looking forward to a weekend of connection, collaboration, and learning!

"My daughter, Gabriela, made the decision to become an organ donor just 5 months before a car accident that took her life. She was such a selfless and loving human being.

She had the honor of saving 5 lives and giving two people the gift of sight. We decided to follow through with her wishes, as she dreamed of becoming a clinical oncologist in order to save lives. She was able to fulfill her dreams of saving lives through organ donation.

We’re celebrating an incredible milestone!

Tiffany, our Eye Bank Operations Manager is celebrating 13 years with our eye bank! We’re deeply grateful for her commitment to eye banking, our communities, and the lives improved through ocular donation and transplantation.

Tiffany is currently a part of the Technician Exam Committee and is the Vice Chair of the Member Value Committee with the Eye Bank Association of America. She has been an integral part of the growth and operations of our eye bank and we are thankful for her passion.

Generosity isn't just an act. It's a movement.

This week, our fundraising team had the privilege of attending the Sacramento Region Community Foundation Third Annual Philanthropy Summit, where we explored the power of connection, belonging, and community-driven giving.

From learning about giving circles and nonprofit engagement with local government to discovering practical ways AI can support mission-driven work, every session challenged us to think bigger about the future of philanthropy.

We're still reflecting on the many insights shared throughout the day, but one thing is clear: meaningful fund development begins with relationships, collaboration, and a shared commitment to making a difference.

We're excited to bring these lessons back to the eye bank and begin the next chapter of our fundraising journey in the months ahead.

It was a pleasure to host UCSF Cornea Fellows, Dr. Morgan Harvey and Dr. John Nesemann, at our Sacramento office for an Orientation to Eye Banking.

During their visit, they observed our processing team prepare a research tissue for DSAEK and then had the opportunity to practice using that tissue in a pre-loaded DSAEK Besson inserter. Hands-on experiences like these provide invaluable insight into the journey from donor to recipient.

Understanding the donation process helps future corneal surgeons appreciate the remarkable gift of sight entrusted to them and the critical role eye banking plays in restoring vision. Every transplant represents the generosity of a donor and their family, the dedication of eye bank professionals, and the expertise of surgeons committed to improving patients' lives.

We are grateful for the opportunity to support the education of the next generation of ophthalmologists and to share the incredible impact of eye donation.

In addition to her outstanding work at our eye bank, Alyssa serves on both the Social Responsibility Committee and the Donor, Partner, and Community Relations Committee for the Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA), helping strengthen and advance the eye banking community.
