Wow… to say I’m proud of my community is an understatement! ❤️

Today meant more to me than anyone will ever know! Seeing this project come together and be complete, as well as the 170 of you that joined me in celebrating it, makes my heart so full of joy!

Thank you to everyone who was there today! I was shocked at the outcome, it was amazing!

It wouldn’t have been possible without you all and your support!! It also wouldn’t have been possible without the city of West Plains, the amazing workers at city utilities, and Mayor Topliff! Thank you to AMVETS for providing refreshments!

It’s an exciting day! ❤️ The banners came in the mail! Thank you to everyone who is a part of this project and all those who applied. These will be such a sweet addition to our community!

They will be going up just in time for Memorial Day! Mark your calendars… we will have a special celebration on Memorial Day to welcome the new addition to the downtown area. Follow and stay tuned for more information about that!

I am excited to see this project complete! It’s almost there! It has been so much work and dedication, but I would go back and do it again any day!

‼️ATTENTION WEST PLAINS VETERANS‼️ TIME IS RUNNING OUT ‼️

If you or a loved one is a Veteran from West Plains, apply to be apart of the NEW ADDITION to the downtown area. Veteran memorial banners will line West and East Main Street from Memorial Day to Veterans Day every year.

Submit your application today before it’s too late. We have limited spots available and they are filling fast.

Here’s the SUPER EASY process:

-First, you need to fill out the application linked at the top of our page. All we need right now is a little bit of information about your veteran and how to get in contact with you.

-Second, we will be in contact with you to collect a high resolution picture, exact information about your veteran, and payment.

-Lastly, you wait until Memorial Day, for the grand reveal, to see your loved one’s banner proudly displayed downtown for all to see.

🎖️Each banner will feature the veterans NAME, PHOTO, and BRANCH OF SERVICE.

The cost for a banner is $115. This covers the printing and shipping costs. The banners will be displayed for two display seasons (Memorial Day to Veterans Day), then will be retired back to the family to keep.

💛This project is being started as part of a Girl Scout Gold Award, with the help of West Plains Downtown and AMVETS. There is no profit from it. It is a community service project to benefit and bring more recognition to local veterans.

West Plains is launching a Veteran Recognition Banner Program — celebrating the brave men and women who have served our country.

⭐️Each banner will feature the veteran’s name, photo, and branch of service, and will be proudly displayed along West and East Main Street from Memorial Day through Veterans Day each year.

Application Details:

❤️Open to veterans or family members applying on their behalf from West Plains, MO

🤍Limited spots available — additional applicants will be placed on a waiting list for future displays

💙Cost: $115 (includes a two-year display; banners are retired to the family afterward)

❤️Selected applicants will complete an agreement form and submit payment upon approval
