A message from our President, Frances Clarke:
“FINALLY I can say that this vision will come to pass this summer!
THE PLEASANT CITY ARCHIVE…
We have put together an archive website that will feature all of the history of Pleasant City that our Founder, Everee Jimerson Clarke had in the Pleasant City Heritage Gallery (and more). It consists of thousands of pictures, videos, obituaries, news, articles, maps, stories, and so on. It is an overwhelming task, trying to identify, organize and sort everything into it into a historic archive. I will keep you posted as things develop, and will need your help identifying some of the pictures, places and events of the past. This history begins in the STYX and includes everything she was able to collect over the decades. Her collection was developed from all the contributions and donations from interested parties back then. Thank you all.
As time moves on, and we realize the value of maintaining our history, our culture, the story of our people it is my goal to make this archive as complete as possible. I would love to fill in all the missing spaces, the families, the businesses, churches, the fun times. I would love to have your participation.. This is a permanent website that will exist for the ages after everything is gone and forgotten.
We have worked for years on this, and soon you’ll be able to see a demo of this project as we work to fill in all the gaps and details. There will be upcoming meetings and sessions for your participation. I welcome and thank everyone.
P.S. This is a nonprofit venture. There is no money involved other than the grant that supports the project. Ownership only applies to materials that have been copyrighted by a publishing company”
