One of the most powerful ways to grow a sustainable doula practice isn’t through algorithms— it’s through relationships.

At this month’s virtual Roundtable, member Darlise Trohanov (serenitysdoulallc) will guide us through building authentic professional connections, growing confidence when approaching providers, and creating meaningful relationships that lead to long-term referrals — all in a way that feels natural, not salesy.

👉 If you’ve ever felt unsure about how to introduce yourself to midwives, OBs, lactation consultants, or other birth professionals, this conversation is for you. 👈

Together, we’ll explore practical strategies to build trust and community within the birth world, with space to ask questions, share experiences, and learn from one another. Because when doulas and providers collaborate well, families truly benefit.

Today, our members of the Doulas Care Collective came together at The Motherhood Village for their Babies in Bloom event 🌸

There’s something deeply powerful about being in a room with women who are all devoted to the same calling… holding, supporting, and honoring families through one of life’s most transformative seasons.

What we’re building here isn’t just a network… it’s a village.

A place where doulas feel supported, inspired, and rooted in their work.
A place where we can learn from one another, lean on each other, and rise together.

Because the truth is, this work can feel heavy when done alone.
But together? We’re stronger. We’re more confident. We’re resourced.

And that ripple effect touches every family we serve.

So proud of this community we’re nurturing 🤍

A special thanks to ashlithemamacoach and motherhoodvillagecoralsprings for a fabulous community event. Look forward to your next one!!!

Join Us for Our Monthly Roundtable!

We're excited to announce our next Doulas Care Collective Roundtable happening next Monday, July 29th at noon!

This month, we have the honor of our esteemed member, Ashley Diaz with birthandphoto. Ashley will be sharing her inspiring perspective on birth and how it is a blessing, rather than something to fear. She believes that when children witness the strength and beauty of birth through photography or in-person, it shapes a positive narrative around this incredible journey.

Ashley’s passion for birth was ignited after supporting a close friend through her birth experience, leading her to become a dedicated support person for moms. With extensive experience as a maternity photographer and doula, Ashley has proficiently supported countless mothers through their journeys.

During the Roundtable, Ashley will share valuable tips and tricks for capturing meaningful memories during all levels of support you provide to these special mamas. Don't miss this opportunity to learn from her wealth of knowledge and experience!

🗓: Monday, July 29th

Doula Advocacy: Informed Decision Making

We asked our member Rachel Fisher from the question: "How do you promote informed decision-making and advocate for birthing people's autonomy during labor and childbirth?" Here's what she had to say:

"Through my experience of supporting families through childbirth, I find that the process of informed decision-making starts with prenatal education. I’ve learned that it’s impossible to update my clients on the pros and cons of certain interventions in the heat of the moment, so I aim to arm my clients with the tool of knowledge beforehand, so that they can confidently navigate the ever-winding road of their personal birth journey. As a doula in the room, I can then act as their guide and advocate, helping to facilitate open communication with their medical team and ensuring that they are active participants in their own care."

Thank you, Rachel, for sharing your invaluable insights with us! Your commitment to empowering families through education and advocacy is truly inspiring.

Words of Wisdom from Jocelyn Smith of

Looking for some inspiration on your doula journey? Look no further! We asked Jocelyn Smith, founder of Birthing Joy, to share her advice for aspiring doulas, and her words are pure gold.

Jocelyn says: "My advice to any and every aspiring doula would be to never give up on this. If supporting mothers & babies is something you have a true passion for, keep pushing, keep pursuing, and keep showing up. Just like childbirth, it’s a marathon not a race, and every single action you put towards this dream makes a difference."

Wise words indeed! Whether you're just starting out or you've been on this path for a while, remember that every step counts. Keep showing up, keep learning, and keep following your passion.
