The Sommers Foundation for Heart Health The Sommers Foundation for Heart Health seeks to educate and increase awareness of cardiac diseases in African American women age 21-49.

The Sommers Foundation for Heart Health seeks to educate and increase awareness of cardiac diseases in African American women by engaging in charitable work at the community level. TSF was founded in 2015 to honor the memory of Tamira Sommers who succumbed to a sudden and unexpected heart attack at the age of 25 in June of 2013. She had no previous history of cardiac disease or symptoms at the time of her passing. Tamira's only child Makayla, affectionately known as "Kay-K", was just 1 year old at the time. In 2016, we will host our first walk/run event to raise funds for our developing scholarship program, planned annual events, and various community outreach efforts. Our first annual walk/run event titled "The 5KK" will celebrate Makayla's 5th birthday and raise community awareness on the facts, risks, and dangers of cardiac diseases.
