🗓️ Tomorrow! TEACH-IN FOR DEMOCRACY: Building a New American Founding
📍 West Hollywood Aquatic & Recreation Center
📅 Sunday, Oct 26 | 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM

Expert facilitators will guide interactive sessions covering constitutional safeguards, combating misinformation, nonviolent resistance tactics, and sustainable organizing practices. Participants can follow a single track or customize their experience, moving between sessions on legal strategies, digital organizing, inclusive coalition-building, and creative activism. The day includes a keynote address on democracy's current challenges, networking opportunities during scheduled breaks, and culminates in a collaborative action-planning session. Whether you're a seasoned activist or newly engaged, you'll leave equipped with practical tools, deeper understanding, and vital connections to defend and strengthen democratic values in your community.

🎤 Keynote: Osita Nwanevu — journalist, author of The Right of the People, and Roosevelt Institute Fellow — will speak on how to rebuild American democracy to be more inclusive, responsive, and truly of the people.

☀️ Join us on the South Lawn at 12:30 for a community picnic — food, conversation, and ways to take action together.

Because democracy isn’t something we inherit — it’s something we build and protect together.

Join us for this special, live, in-person conversation with Professor Marla Stone (Occidental College) — a leading scholar on fascism, dictatorship, and genocide — for an urgent discussion on the History of Fascism and its echoes today.

Professor Stone’s work explores Italian Fascist politics and culture, the contemporary far right in Europe, Holocaust memory, and interwar cultural diplomacy. She is the author of The Patron State: Culture and Politics in Fascist Italy and The Fascist Revolution, and co-editor of Fascism in America (2022).

A Professor of History at Occidental College, Stone has served twice as Department Chair and was the Andrew W. Mellon Professor of the Humanities at the American Academy in Rome (2021–2023). She has held fellowships at Princeton, Stanford, and the European University Institute, and her scholarship has appeared in The Journal of Contemporary History, Constellations, and The Journal of Hate Studies.

A former President of the ACLU of Southern California and fellow of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, Professor Stone is currently completing The Enemy: The Politics and Propaganda of Italian Anti-Communism.
