Great meeting tonight at Megamix Youth Gavel Club. Here's a summary: The meeting combined club business, role coordination, and a series of moderated, debate-style Table Topics to practice impromptu speaking for youth and adult members.

The main session featured timed debates on lighthearted and school-related prompts. Debates covered whether a hot dog is a sandwich, waffles versus pancakes, allowing phones in class with a “school phone” proposal versus banning phones, virtual versus in-person learning and sleep habits. After the debates, Barbara and others provided evaluations and timing feedback, noting filler-word reduction and praising Billy’s speech and slides; Zainab reported precise timing including one ten-second overage, and tentative role assignments were made for the next meeting.
