In recognition of National Foster Care Month, we want to highlight the experiences of youth in foster care and the importance of stable, supportive environments.

Youth in foster care often face instability, separation, and frequent change, which can impact mental health and well-being. Supportive relationships, safe environments, and consistent care play an important role in helping young people feel grounded and supported.

We encourage you to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and help build a community where every young person feels safe and supported.

Fostering positive mental health is a community effort, especially when it comes to supporting our young people.

Whether you are a youth seeking support, a parent offering guidance, or a professional in the field, we all play a vital role in creating a space where mental well-being can thrive. We can all help by:

Staying open to learning about mental health and substance use care.
Practicing self-compassion and modeling healthy self-care for the next generation.
Building our knowledge to better understand and support the youth and peers around us.
Advocating for compassionate, accessible care for everyone in our communities.

During National Prevention Week, we are highlighting protective factors such as trusted relationships, safe environments, and early mental health support that help young people build resilience. Prevention is most effective when we create spaces where youth feel seen, heard, and safe to seek help. Everyone in the community, from practitioners to neighbors, plays a role, whether through honest conversations or by sharing helpful resources.

The SAMHSA website offers a range of community tools and evidence-based strategies for professionals. Explore the resources here: https://bit.ly/495tq9l

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, we highlight the importance of early support.

Mental health challenges often arise as young people navigate their identities, relationships, and futures. Education enables earlier access to care, helping ensure these challenges do not hinder a young person's success.

We encourage you to pledge to learn more, listen actively, and help build a community where every young person feels supported.
