October opens with OutFest this weekend, so the first part of the month is busier than usual — a film screening on Friday, the festival itself on Sunday, and a happy hour a few days later to close it out — and then things settle back into the programs that run every month. You don't need to come to the big things to be part of this. Come to whatever fits.

Sat 10/3 · 7:30 PM — The Dads: Film Screening & Community Conversation Part of OutFest weekend, with PFLAG West Chester/Chester County, at the Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center in West Chester. A documentary in which fathers talk openly about their trans and q***r children and about their own experience of parenting, followed by a community conversation. For parents, loved ones, and anyone trying to understand someone they love. This event has a cost: $20 + fees for the screening. An Artful Impact VIP reception beforehand at 6:00 PM is $75 + fees. Sun 10/4 · 12:00–5:00 PM — OutFest At the Chester County History Center in West Chester. Your story creates our story — a community-centered day honoring the courage it takes to live authentically, and making space for people still finding their way. Inspired by National Coming Out Day. Sat 10/10 · 6:30–9:30 PM — LGBTQ+ 20s & 30s: Wicked for Good at West Goshen Park A free outdoor screening at the J. Leon Hagerty Amphitheater. Bring your own dinner and hang out beforehand; the movie starts at 7:30. Dry goods are being collected for the West Chester Food Cupboard — toilet paper, diapers, soap, shampoo, deodorant, laundry detergent. Tue 10/20 · 1:00–3:00 PM — Chester County LGBTQ+ and Allied Business Network Meet-Up A joint meet-up with the Independence Business Alliance, Greater Philadelphia's LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce, in the Struble Room at the Chester County Library in Exton. Open networking from 1:00 to 2:00, then an introduction to the LGBTEA Business Network and the IBA, plus a discussion of LGBTBE and Allied SME certification. Free and open to all, with light bites and refreshments. This takes the place of our usual first-Tuesday business meetup this month.
