A LOCAL SERVICE CLUB WITH EMPHASIS ON SERVICE
We call ourselves "We-Go" an appropriate name since the members of the Westtown-Goshen Club go to great lengths to provide a multitude of services to our community, our nation and the world. We call ourselves "We-Go" an appropriate name since the members go to great lengths to provide a multitude of services to our community, our nation and the world.

WE-GO is a non-profit membership and service club approved by Rotary International and is part of District 7450. We-Go has become known as "one of the most energetic service clubs in our area," as noted by George Bury in the Daily Local News. From its beginning in 1975, We-Go has prided itself in being an every-member-participates club. From the moment a new member becomes a We-Go Rotarian, he or she immediately becomes an active participant in the club's many service opportunities. What is Rotary: Rotary is a global network of local business and community volunteers. Rotarians are people just like you and me who lead in their professions and communities by providing humanitarian service, encouraging ethical business practices and sponsoring peace efforts. Rotary clubs are nonreligious, nonpolitical and open to every race, culture and creed. Members represent a diverse mix of local business and professional leaders. What Rotarians do: Rotary clubs and their members participate in a broad range of intercultural and educational activities designed to improve the human condition. Projects include providing healthcare and medical supplies, clean water, food, job training, youth development and education to millions of people in need – particularly in developing countries. In addition, Rotary funds the work of local club volunteers who travel to parts of the world where their technical expertise is most needed to alleviate hardship and solve problems. Peace Efforts: Rotary builds understanding through international scholarships, exchange programs and humanitarian grants. In 2002, Rotary International launched the Centers for International Studies in peace and conflict resolution, an innovative program designed to educate tomorrow’s peacemakers. Hosted at seven leading universities, this program funds 70 "World Peace Scholars" each year who are pursuing graduate studies in international regions, conflict studies and negotiation ~ helping to provide promising leaders tools to further the cause of peace. Polio Eradication: In 1985, Rotary launched PolioPlus, an ambitious program to immunize the world’s children against polio. Rotary’s grassroots leadership, volunteer support and initial funding for vaccines provided the catalyst for the World Health Assembly’s resolution in 1988 to eradicate polio worldwide. Spearheading partners of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative are the World Health Organization, Rotary International, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and UNICEF. As a result of these efforts, polio cases have dropped by 99% since 1988 and the world stands on the threshold of eradicating the disease. Rotary members have given more than half a billion U.S. dollars and countless hands-on volunteer hours toward this critical effort. History: Paul Harris formed the world’s first service club, the Rotary Club of Chicago, on February 23, 1905. Rotary’s motto is "Service Above Self" and, as it celebrates its 102nd anniversary, the club and its 1.2 million members around the globe continue to focus on furthering truth, fairness, cooperation among all cultures and world peace. A 1942 Rotary conference held in London planted the seeds for the development of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and some 50 Rotary members served as delegates and consultants at the founding of the United Nations. Today Rotary holds the highest consultative status with the United Nations of any non-governmental organization. In this capacity, Rotary has a strong voice within the UN system and access to its people and resources worldwide. How to Become a Rotarian: Send us an email: [email protected] to get started. Belonging to a Rotary club offers anyone an enjoyable and organized way to make a significant contribution to their community. Rotary members meet weekly to plan club, community and international service activities. By putting their skills to use locally and globally, members also enhance their professional network, career development and cross-cultural understanding. If you seek the truth, do your best to always be fair, desire building goodwill & better friendships, and want to meet others who ensure their daily actions are beneficial to all concerned, you’ve passed the "Four-Way Test" and we’d like to meet you!

Celebrating youth in Rotary! Read all about it in the June issue of Rotary Magazine.

The June issue of Rotary Magazine is out now! 🎉💻

In this issue we are excited to bring you highlights from this year's Rotary Youth Competition finals and to share the incredible stories behind our Rotary Young Citizen Award winners.

On the day, we came together to celebrate Rotary Young Citizens, Rotary Young Musicians and Rotary Young Chefs from across GB&I, all under one roof at the Grange Theatre in Hartford, Cheshire.

The event, hosted by Danny Brown, Rotaract Great Britain and Ireland incoming Chair-elect, proved to be a spectacular showcase of musical and culinary talent and youth social action🌟🏆🎶👩‍🍳

The Rotary Young Citizen Awards recognise those who demonstrate positive citizenship, personal achievements, or otherwise stand out as exceptional for their contribution to society. Abbie Breakwell, Team GB Paralympian and now Rotary GB&I Ambassador was welcomed back to host the Rotary Young Citizen Awards. The tennis star won the Rotary Young Citizen WheelPower Sport Award back in 2018.🎾✨

Alongside our celebration of youth in Rotary, we also share news of the new UK wide 'National Conversation', which is a large scale listening exercise designed to capture feedback from people about their experiences of community life, plus we bring you details of the new look Rotary GB&I online shop which provides professionally designed materials to support your club events and campaigns.

We also bring together your inspiring stories from a handful of projects from across Great Britain and Ireland🙌
