Gifts Of Love Haiti

Gifts of Love Haiti focuses our efforts on La Gonâve Island, where we serve children in the community of Anse-a-Galet. We’ve built a school to help educate the children of the community, provide them free healthcare, feed them for free each day, and provide job training for future careers. We host computer lab and job training courses for community members of all ages, teaching English, digital literacy, arts, music, leadership, and more.
In addition to providing daily meals and clean water to our school students and staff, we run nine community feeding programs to provide nutritious meals to rural areas surrounding Anse-a-Galets. Our pediatric health clinic provides life saving and preventative medical care to children in surrounding communities on the island. We want to bring tangible resources to these children and families, but we can’t do it alone.

One of the greatest joys as the director of Gifts of Love Haiti is receiving pictures like these. (This is 4th grade). Our school of 450 students not only has the highest test scores on La Gonave Island but they also eat a nutritious meal every day! Hello I am in a remote rural part of Haiti called LaGonave Island which is very safe as are many areas of Haiti. But in some places of Port-a-Prince, it is impossible to travel because of violence and instability.

To compare where we work and the areas of extreme challenge would be like comparing the South side of Chicago to a beautiful suburb, or a remote farm in America.

But the deterioration of the main city Port-a-Prince is having an effect on the entire country.

We have new initiatives that are bringing jobs, farming, water, and education desperately needed by the kind and loving people on LaGonave Island. They are suffering because of the chaos that others have created therefore we do our small part to help empower the people of Haiti with resources.

You will see the positive side of the Haitian people over the next few weeks as I post short reels about life here on the island.

Woke up today hearing about the earthquake in the south part of Haiti and was grieved for the kind people that have been through so much! Where we work on LaGonave Island everyone is fine but I have heard already of a senator who died in the earthquake! Pray for Haiti-!
