Esther's Obituary
Esther (Worster) Morrow, 88, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026. She was born December 6, 1937, in Berwick, Maine, the daughter of Walter and Grace (Austen) Worster.
Esther grew up in Berwick and graduated from Berwick High School, where she was actively involved in both sports and music, forming friendships that would last a lifetime. She went on to graduate from Gorham State Teachers College, Class of 1959, an achievement she held with great pride, having worked her way through college at a time when such determination was uncommon for women. This is where she met and married William Morrow. Esther was married to Bill for 44 years until his passing in 2003. Together, they built a life centered on family, community, and shared adventure.
She devoted several years to raising her four children before returning to her professional calling as an educator. Esther taught second grade at Eliot Elementary School for nearly 30 years, where she became a beloved and influential figure in the community. Her dedication to her students and their families left a lasting impression on hundreds of children, fostering both a love of learning and a sense of confidence that extended far beyond the classroom.
woman of boundless energy and curiosity, Esther embraced life fully. She was deeply committed to her community, serving as a selectperson for the town of Eliot, Maine, from 1995 to 1998. In this role, she exemplified her lifelong desire to make things just a little better for everyone around her.
Esther found joy in countless activities. She loved to dance and was especially active in the square dance community, including the Down East Western Square Dance Club and The Nubble Light Square Dance Club. She also loved to travel—something she never imagined as a child—and went on to visit many countries and most of the United States, including a memorable cross-country drive with Bill.
Her faith and spirituality were central to her life. She was an active member of Eliot Congregational Church for nearly 20 years, and later became involved with the Unity Church in Rollinsford, New Hampshire. She also practiced Reiki, played sound bowls, and led a book club focused on spirituality, sharing her passion for personal growth and healing with others.
Her talents seemed endless. She danced, sang, played the piano, sewed, knitted, cooked, and gardened with enthusiasm and skill. She made beautiful quilts and volunteered to help others create their own works of art. Above all, she had a remarkable ability to connect with others, making friends wherever she went.
Esther also had a great compassion for animals and nature. She volunteered for many years at a local cat shelter and personally cared for several cats, often taking in those who had nowhere else to go.
Esther was loved deeply by her children and their families: Mark and Sandie of Berwick, Maine; Julie and Paul Caito of Coto de Caza, California; and Nancy and Jordan Antunes of Waltham, Massachusetts, and Michael and Patty Morrow. She was predeceased by her son Michael, whom she held in her heart every day.
She was a loving and devoted grandmother to Alex Morrow (Nicolette and Eloise), Matthew Caito (Maja and Zoey), Eric Antunes (Florencia and Leon), Kristen Antunes, Meghan Caito, Bryan Clemmer (Carly), Todd Gerow, Virginia Flesher (Andrew and Joey), and Josh Hudak (Samantha). She was also overjoyed at recently welcoming new great-grandchildren to the family, each of whom she adored, as she did all children. Esther’s life was defined by her generosity, resilience, and joy. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the love she shared so freely. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
