Wellesley A Better Chance Opening the door to greater educational opportunities since 1972.

Wellesley A Better Chance makes a difference in the lives of six extraordinary young women -- academically talented teen-aged scholars of color from disadvantaged communities. Our six scholars attend Wellesley High School and live together in the Wellesley ABC Resident Scholar House. With financial support from Wellesley residents and businesses, our town provides our scholars a great opportunity for academic achievement.

We love hearing from our alumnae! 1998 alumna Dr. Queen Meccasia Zabriskie sent us a recent update: “I am in Ohio for the year at Antioch College. They have a Coretta Scott King Center for Cultural and Intellectual Freedom here and I am the Acting Director of the Center and a Resident Fellow, as well as a Visiting Associate Professor of Social Sciences.” Dr. Zabriskie earned her BA from Duke University and her MA and PhD in Sociology from Northwestern University. She is a tenured professor at New College of Florida. What an amazing career!
