In late 2017, we were contacted to help LPD with a cruelty case. Several dogs were found starving and one severely injured. One of those dogs was Skye; the sweetest pibble you’ve ever met. After weeks of good food and lots of love, Skye was healthy and she was adopted into a loving home. Earlier this year, her owner contacted us and needed to give Skye up (for personal reasons that will not be disclosed). Although Skye was nearly 12 years old and had some health issues, we were able to find an amazing hospice foster home for her.
Skye’s health and quality of life began deteriorating over the past couple months. Skye’s cruelty case was one of the first ones DCAA helped with. We promised her and the other dogs that we took in that day their time of suffering was over and so when she let us know earlier this week that she was tired and ready to go, we helped her cross the rainbow bridge where we know so many other animals were waiting for her.
Skye will of course be cremated and returned back to her owner and foster family that both loved her so much.
Run free, our precious Skye. 🐾 🌈 🐾

Our Fosters mean everything to us and when one of their dogs pass, as you know the healing process never ends. She asked us to find her a senior dog for her own.
She met Lance and fell in love with him.
Lance (now Tippy), is living his best life on a couch snuggled up to his new family.
We love when we can connect a human with a dog that was just met to be!

Thank you for choosing to adopt through DCAA 🐾💖
