πŸš“πŸš’πŸš Usually when kids see these vehicles, they’re headed somewhere on the worst kind of day. On September 12, they get to meet them on a really GOOD one. πŸ’™

That’s one of our favorite things about Touch-A-Truck.

There are no emergencies. No flashing lights rushing past. Instead, kids get the chance to walk up, take a closer look, ask questions and meet some of the men and women behind the vehicles they see serving our communities every day.

They can see a BearCat up close. Check out fire trucks and ambulances. Meet K-9s and their handlers. Explore specialty and mobile command equipment. And, yes β€” there will be helicopters! 🚁

For little ones who already think police cars and fire trucks are the coolest things in the world, it’s an exciting afternoon.

But there’s something bigger happening, too.

Events like this give children an opportunity to meet first responders in a safe, positive environment. They get to see the person behind the uniform, learn what they do and discover some of the equipment used to keep our communities safe.

And we think that kind of connection matters. πŸ’™

So bring the kids. Let them ask a million questions. Let them get excited when they see the helicopters. Let them meet a K-9. Let them see some really cool equipment.

Most importantly, let them meet some of the people who show up for our communities every single day.

🌢️ An Official Statement from the Calhoun County Blue Line Foundation 🌢️

We would like to thank Senator Keith Kelley for sending a special video message that was played during yesterday’s Battle of the Badges Chili Challenge. Senator Kelley has been a longtime supporter of this event, and while he wasn’t able to join us in person this year, he certainly found a way to make his presence known. πŸ˜‚

However, the Calhoun County Blue Line Foundation would like to formally apologize to Chief Nathan Johnson and Chief Alan Kelly for the completely unsubstantiatedβ€”and highly suspiciousβ€”allegations made by Senator Kelley regarding the possible use of β€œroadkill” in their chili. πŸŒΆοΈπŸ¦ŒπŸ˜‚

For the record, CCBLF has conducted absolutely no investigation into these allegations, has no intention of beginning one, and feels strongly that some things are probably better left unknown. πŸ˜‚

We know it is all among friends, all in good fun, and most importantly, all for a great causeβ€”supporting law enforcement agencies throughout Calhoun County.

We appreciate Senator Kelley for being such a good sport and for continuing to support Battle of the Badges.

That being said… Chiefs Johnson and Kelly have apparently decided they will NOT allow these allegations to go unanswered.

Their official responses follow. πŸ‘€πŸŒΆοΈ
