πππ Usually when kids see these vehicles, theyβre headed somewhere on the worst kind of day. On September 12, they get to meet them on a really GOOD one. π
Thatβs one of our favorite things about Touch-A-Truck.
There are no emergencies. No flashing lights rushing past. Instead, kids get the chance to walk up, take a closer look, ask questions and meet some of the men and women behind the vehicles they see serving our communities every day.
They can see a BearCat up close. Check out fire trucks and ambulances. Meet K-9s and their handlers. Explore specialty and mobile command equipment. And, yes β there will be helicopters! π
For little ones who already think police cars and fire trucks are the coolest things in the world, itβs an exciting afternoon.
But thereβs something bigger happening, too.
Events like this give children an opportunity to meet first responders in a safe, positive environment. They get to see the person behind the uniform, learn what they do and discover some of the equipment used to keep our communities safe.
And we think that kind of connection matters. π
So bring the kids. Let them ask a million questions. Let them get excited when they see the helicopters. Let them meet a K-9. Let them see some really cool equipment.
Most importantly, let them meet some of the people who show up for our communities every single day.
