The Weatherly Area High School Alumni Association (WAHSAA) is proud to announce the full list of scholarship and award recipients for the Class of 2026. This year, we are honored to recognize an incredible group of students for their academic achievements, leadership, and service to the Weatherly community.

The Weatherly Area High School Alumni Association (WAHSAA) is proud to announce that Kelly Reiner has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Advanced Education Scholarship.

This award is a testament to Kelly’s dedication, academic excellence, and deep-rooted commitment to the Weatherly community. Kelly has balanced a rigorous course load—including AP Calculus and AP Literature—with an extensive list of leadership roles and extracurricular achievements.

Academic and Professional Goals
This fall, Kelly will attend Misericordia University, where she plans to major in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. With a clear vision for her future, she aspires to become a Perinatal Sonographer, aiming to maintain her high academic standards by making the Honor Roll every semester.

Leadership and Community Service
Kelly has served her school and community in numerous capacities, including:
President of the National Honor Society
Vice President of the Class of 2026
Vice President of the Interact Club
Treasurer of the Yearbook Club

Beyond the classroom, Kelly is a familiar face at local events, volunteering for the Weatherly HillClimb, the Shepard House Food Pantry, and the Weatherly Halloween Parade.

Athletic Excellence
A standout multi-sport athlete, Kelly has been a vital part of the Varsity Girls’ Basketball, Volleyball, and Track & Field teams throughout her high school career. Notably, she is a school record holder in the Girls’ Javelin, Shot Put, and Discus. In her personal essay, Kelly reflected on the grit and leadership required to lead her basketball team to the District 11 Championship game, citing it as one of her most cherished memories at Weatherly.

I am writing to inform you of a situation that recently occurred at the elementary school within the Weatherly Area School District. Three small canisters of pepper spray, which are classified as a weapon under Pennsylvania’s Act 44, were found on school property.

🎉 Congratulations to the 2025 WAHSAA Scholarship Recipient! 🎉

The Weatherly Area High School Alumni Association (WAHSAA) is proud to announce the recipient of the prestigious 2025 WAHSAA Scholarship!

We congratulate Ava Sahaida, daughter of Joseph and Brenda Esposito of Weatherly, who has been awarded the $15,000 scholarship from her graduating class!

A standout senior, Ava who graduated in the top five of her class. Her list of achievements and involvement is truly impressive:

Leadership Roles: President of her Senior Class, VP of National Honor Society, Secretary of Interact Club, and VP of FBLA.

School Activities: Member of softball and cheerleading teams, Science Olympiad, Teens Against To***co Use, Health Careers Club, and Student Government Association.

Community Involvement: Student representative at Weatherly Area School Board meetings, member of the CANDO Student Action Committee, Junior Leadership Hazleton, and the “Senior Support Team” for Junior Leadership.

Ava plans to attend King's College to pursue a career as a Physician's Assistant. We wish her the very best in her future endeavors!
