Protecting Peace and Quiet on Lake Street .We’ve heard you loud and clear, Wayzata: The sounds of summer should be laughter, friendly conversations, and waves lapping against the shore—not the roar of revving engines and exhibition driving.

I’m happy to report that we are making real progress. Police Chief Baker and her team Wayzata Police Department have doubled down on Lake Street. They’ve increased our police presence, stepped up patrols for loud vehicles and unsafe driving, and partnered with the community to pinpoint issues.

This focused effort is already making a major difference. Look at the impact from May alone:

Targeted Patrols: Officers invested just over 80 hours of overtime (roughly half funded by Wayzata and half by the state) specifically to combat these disruptions.

Record Enforcement: In May alone, officers issued 85 citations—more than in the previous three years combined.

Focus on the Waterfront: Nearly one-third of those citations were issued directly on Lake Street.

How you can help:
Our PD can't be everywhere at once, and we need your eyes and ears. If you see unsafe driving or excessive noise in the area, please grab a video or picture (if you can do so safely!) and contact the Wayzata PD at 952-258-5321.

As always, if you have ideas, feedback, or concerns, please reach out .

With gratitude,

Mayor Andy

The end result will be good but the short term implications are rough

📣🚧Buckle up for June Highway 12 closures:

➡️June 1 to 15: Hwy 12 will be reduced to one lane in both directions between Carlson Pkwy. and Gleason Lake Rd. (Co. Rd. 15).

➡️ June 4 through early July: The Gleason Lake Rd. (Co. Rd. 15) entrance ramp to eastbound Hwy 12 will be closed. The detour is westbound Wayzata Blvd. to northbound Central Ave. (Co. Rd. 101) to eastbound Hwy 12.

➡️June 10 to 17: The westbound I-394 entrance to northbound I-494 will be closed. The detour for this closure is to “run the loops” — exit for the southbound I-494 loop, then to the eastbound I-394 loop, and then onto the northbound I-494 loop.
