Big things coming to Haywood county! Repurposed people will be point person in establishing a re-entry council! Being in this field for over two decades, that is on one side of the fence & the other we know all too well the importance of synergy and collaboration of resources. The boy and I spent a couple of hours this evening trying to help our community. I’m big on takeaways so when I pointed out how cold he was I brought up that people are sleeping in tents out in this weather bringing up how at one point of my recovery journey I was a single dad on disability/housing voucher/EBT and had to ask Salavation Army for assistance with our heat bill some winters. The takeaway I emphasized was ~Greatfullness~ and how he will be sleeping in his warm bed tonight after enjoying a ride on the polar express earlier this week! Somewhere during this time one of Hazelwood’s homeless population walked by (Bundled up,coat,backpack & tent on shoulder) my son noticed this person and later pointed it out to me, I pray moments like these resonate with him….

As we all continue to work through this tragedy I would like to ask everyone to be kind to all of the volunteers and workers out there in the community. We are all on edge but that’s no reason to take it out on them. 🫶🏼

Was talking with one of my family members on the drive out to Raleigh who grew up in similar circumstances as I (if not worse) and they said something that really resonated with me in relation to her recovery. They told me how they are happy like in a genuine way and that they had never in there life had that and I reflected on my life which gave me the epiphany of how simply being happy with your life is the idea of recovery! It’s funny to me how people take such things for granted but then again they might have never tasted the bitter side of life like us who have/are going through the struggle so my Ted talk today is simply being grateful for what you do have in life. Special thanks to for facilitating my appearance at RAI summit and this image is all about our work is long from over for our people!

Well it’s that time of year again & the fact that we have a national recovery awareness month is more than enough motivation to throw these pics together! We do recover, there is hope for all who battles there addiction!

We had our first team meeting and are actively looking for grants. We are excited to help residents of Haywood County. We also got to attend the historic Waynesville arch reveal.
